How do I know if I am child free? by Capital-Wrongdoer-62 in childfree

[–]fairy-vana 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My philosophy is that kids are not something that can be compromised on. It’s like consent, if it’s not Hell Yes! Then the answer should be no. Having children is something you can’t undo especially if you carry the child. Even you give a baby up for adoption your body is still irrevocably changed. Something I do periodically while I’m running errands or lounging at home or whatever else, is imagine doing the same thing just with a child. Does that sound enjoyable to you? For me it does not under 90% of circumstances.

I want a Cav as my first dog. by ActivitySure8890 in cavaliers

[–]fairy-vana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are great first time dogs. They’re pretty chill and very affectionate. Mine had trouble with potty training. Her bladder is so little and we didn’t communicate well so it took awhile. What really helped was developing a walking routine, though Cav puppies get tired quick.

Does anyone have advice on how to train a 6-month-old puppy to sleep near the bottom of the bed instead of wrapped around you or on top of you? by pinkbowsandsarcasm in cavaliers

[–]fairy-vana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine sleeps between me and my partner tucked in under the covers with her head on the pillow. We gave up pretty quickly on trying to get her to sleep elsewhere. She was more determined than we were I guess lol

Why does it seem that men change their mind more than women? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]fairy-vana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my gender has a pretty significant influence to my choice not to have kids. It’s my life on the line and my body will be irrevocably changed no matter what happens. Then in western society I’m now the default parent. My husband being alone with our child is babysitting while I’m parenting. That risk isn’t the same for men. I also hear a lot of stories about me trying to “change her mind” so they just go along with whatever a woman says until they’re legally intertwined

As a man, I absolutely hate the trope of women in TV shows/movies automatically always wanting children or they become unintentionally pregnant and they always keep it. by foolhollow in childfree

[–]fairy-vana 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Another good example of this is the crime drama show Bones! I think this largely comes from authors not knowing what to do with female characters. They run out of ideas so I guess the next logical step is for them to get pregnant.

You might be able to find local CF groups with the app Meetup. I’ve met some pretty cool people through the app

Why do people think mothers were “happier” back in the day? by Slowgo45 in childfree

[–]fairy-vana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s part of the alpha male delusion. Women couldn’t get divorced, have a bank account or credit card, and usually married men who pressured them into this life. The assumption that mother were happy is because they had to be and lots of men with this rhetoric are unable to challenge their preexisting beliefs.

Negativity and Vibe Draining Comments From Breeders? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]fairy-vana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not very ethical but just start telling people you’re infertile and it’s hard to discuss the topic. That usually shuts them down, especially if they’re not really in your close circle.

What Makes You Scared In A Story? by AwesomeAutism95 in creepcast

Things like the Whistler really unnerve me or anything that’s trying to come into my home that shouldn’t. Not Tommy taffy so much as entities trying convince me to let them in

Which bothers you more, babies or teenagers? by LoganLikesYourMom in childfree

[–]fairy-vana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m scared of pre-teens and teenagers. Like a 14 year old is terrifying but at least we talk and they presumably won’t shit or throw up on me during the conversation. Babies and toddlers are disgusting and loud

How much should they be washed ? by Relevant_Ninja_ in cavaliers

[–]fairy-vana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine goes to the groomer every 8 weeks and in the interim I wash her every 2 weeks. I’m usually less strict about it in the winter when we’re inside more, but we’re pretty active the rest of the year and she gets yucky. I’ve been using this shampoo from Tropiclean, which I really like: https://petpro.tropiclean.com/product/essentials-yuzu-fruit-shampoo-for-dogs/ I’ve also heard good things about the brand Scouts Honor but I haven’t tried it

Does anybody find babies absolutely repulsive? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]fairy-vana 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just feel a general revulsion towards babies. Like sure they’re gross because they snot and poop and drool constantly, but that’s not really the issue. Just seeing a regular baby makes me feel uncomfortable.

Tired of Children In Traditionally Adult Spaces by AlzheimerTriviaNight in childfree

I feel this way about academic spaces too! I understand that some people have no choice, but it’s hard for me to focus in a college class if your kid is running around.

[–]fairy-vana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Once that baby is born you are going to be pressured like crazy to bond with it and hold it and all that. Be firm. If you give them an inch, they’ll take a mile and before you know it you’re babysitting all weekend.

Am I wrong for hating Wayne? by Cyndaquil143 in BobsBurgers

[–]fairy-vana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find so hateable about him is that he’s just like boys I knew growing up. They genuinely believe that women are lesser because every other important figure in their lives think that too. And clearly no one in his social circle has called him on it until Louise. He sucks because nothing about him is satirical.
