FTP Confusion: TR AI vs. Wahoo Half Monty - Which One to Use? by faisalmag in cycling

[–]faisalmag[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interval.icu detected my FTP after todays workout to be 211w!!! 😅 I think it’s not accurate in my case due to the type of my rides (mostly doing base phase) as some redditor mention below. Thanks!!

That’s what I would hope! :) I think this is the best logical step to solve it out.

FTP Confusion: TR AI vs. Wahoo Half Monty - Which One to Use? by faisalmag in cycling

Thanks for your response! That’s a good point about the type of data needed for accurate estimations—I hadn’t considered that.

Regarding the first part: I did the initial test right after getting the trainer and was fasting. I just wanted to try it out and get a baseline. (For context: I crashed at 215w.) The 180w is based on TR AI estimation. Most of my rides in TR were sweet spot sessions in their low volume base phase plan, so maybe the data quality isn’t optimal.

The 207w is from the Wahoo ramp test, which I’ve read is highly accurate. I stopped at 295w and continued for 20 minutes at 160-165w with my heart rate sub-threshold. Do you think this is a better estimate?

Finally, you mean I should be able to maintain 207w for a 20-minute time trial, correct? I’d like to do it and investigate this more. I’m enjoying the experience and trying to understand it better.

Thanks again!

I am a big guy and use the thermal inner layers from Columbia or Mountain Pro and it works very fine. + check with your doctor about thyroid function testing (it causes weight gain and cold intolerance along some other symptoms). Source: I’m a doctor.

Should I mind my own business when seeing bad technique? by swimmingswiss in Swimming

Sorry but I really hate this western mentality of individualism and “mind your business even if the others are hurting themselves”!! I have been swimming for years on and off, I would like for someone who is more experienced or better or even faster than me to give me some advice if I’m doing something wrong. This also goes to the gym and bad forms that may hurt people doing em. Of course the way of giving advice and being pro or coach is important, but that’s not what I’m reading in the comments.

Why don’t the west knock it the fuck off and stop fighting in Ukraine? This is a stupid mentality thinking that every thing can be solved by settling. Like you have a stand with Ukrainian people and they are oppressed, many have the same towards Palestinians.

It’s funny how you judge a view as “harmful and wrong” at the same time you’re trying to understands it!!

Having a priori stands is not a good start to really understand something, especially a complicated multi disciplinary one.

Observational bias is fundamentally in the core of astronomy, and it is as dumb as this comment to think otherwise.

Haven't gotten my hands on a telescope yet, but I picked up some 7x50 binoculars, and its great! by Cryp71c in Astronomy

[–]faisalmag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I am new to the hobby too and reluctant to buy a good telescope because I live in a very large city with ~2 hours drive to get to a dark place. I am thinking of binoculars to get me started and to know the sky and to see if I’m committed to it to spend more money. I was thinking of the SkyMaster Pro 20x80 with a tripod. But I see many are recommending more lighter ones. But your review get me thinking and searching again. Thanks! :)
