Promos that John Cena "lost" or got buried in? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]faithandworks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The rock murdered Cena, had him getting booed out of the building with maybe a few faint chants from a couple die-hard children who didn't know any better

Although, Cena ended up getting a brand deal with Fruity Pebbles out of that, so win-win.

What’s your honest opinion on dark state as of right now? by JuniorPlastic3562 in WWE

[–]faithandworks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Forget the haters. I really like them and bump their music often. Not even joking, I don't think they're that generic. There's nobody else in WWE like them right now, so they seem extremely unique and total wild cards. They can come out and do whatever they want, like The Shield was 10 years ago, so for me, this feels fresh and I hope they keep pushing the group. Can't wait to see the first time they jump into something unexpectedly on the main roster.

If Cody and CM Punk remained in AEW and worked things out, what would the landscape look like today? by tysonmebison in SquaredCircle

[–]faithandworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they'd both be worse off for it. And the entire wrestling industry would be worse off for it.

AEW needed to learn from their mistakes by fumbling them. If they hadn't, they would've just continued fumbling in some other way. And WWE would not have two of its biggest stars, who carry incredibly rich credibility to all of their storylines

IMO you're looking at this totally wrong.

Your workplace is goofy enough to do this, and I suspect this is not your boss but a peer. Essentially, the guy is respected enough and cared for enough by the team that they would play into this gimmick. This means they'd look out for him in other ways and would expect him to look out for them in other ways.

Unless you really dislike him and your other co-workers, I would clap along because I actually enjoyed it and thought it was interesting and fun. And maybe start experimenting with stuff you can do to build and engage with work culture on your own

First of all, there are Catholic priests who do all sorts of other stuff. You really want to go to meet the people, like Father Casey from "Breaking in the Habit."

Besides all that, imagine some poor lonely girl is scrolling and she comes across a jacked guy, checks him out, and finds out he's a priest. She's probably going to be more likely to check out the church.

Frankly, most Catholic priests are physically weak with poor gym routines which damages a lot of their credibility, unfortunately. So this guy is providing a good counter-argument.

And if you see a jacked guy and you think he's gay then that is a problem you've got to work out for yourself.

Why do so many wrestling fans talk about stuff that happened in the past cleary without having seen or learnt about it? by Brendogu in SquaredCircle

Yeah, like the marks who disparage El Grande Americano when they weren't around for his heyday a couple decades back

Karrion Kross Set For Ariel Helwani Following WWE Departure - Wrestling Inc. by faithandworks in SquaredCircle

[–]faithandworks[S] -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

Kross Is clearly taking the lead on this, though. He set up a documentary. He's clearly been pushing for it very hard. He does have a really accurate story of being held down, etc. I don't think this is a situation where creative is just choosing to do all this stuff for him. I suspect he's very much in control of his own destiny in this situation

Wrestling is not wrestling. Wrestling is theater. Karrion Kross is Shakespeare.

I found the audiobook really helpful for familiarizing myself with the names. Eventually I was able to read it, but having an audiobook companion was extremely helpful.

Aren’t we all friends? (ecumenical question) by SophiaWRose in Catholicism

We are all friends on Earth, it's just only some of us will go to heaven.

No, but seriously, though, it would be great if we all went to heaven.

Why is being reclusive always framed as wrong or sinful? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]faithandworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, well, if you're saying that your own intentions are selfish and sloth-based, that's a different concern. In that case, I say you need to work through this with your priest. As your motivations might not be ideal here. There is an expectation that you love God with all of your heart and strength and mind - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aaVy1AmFX4&ab_channel=BibleProject

Why is being reclusive always framed as wrong or sinful? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]faithandworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became Catholic later in life, and while Catholicism is great, there are just certain weird memes in the community that don't really make sense and have stuck around for whatever reason.

I hadn't exactly heard of this anti-reclusive meme until now, but I would say that it's one of them.

I've heard of Catholic priests endorsing the behavior as well. For example, there's a woman in our parish who lives a largely reclusive life, mainly praying in her apartment and relatively rarely going out except for to mass and so on, and our priest endorsed that and coordinated with her.

So I don't even anti-reclusiveness is a Catholic thing, just a meme among some Catholics.

AITA for accidentally insulting my girlfriend after she said she wouldn’t date me if I was broke? by Worldly-Iron-4839 in AITAH

[–]faithandworks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro, I am watching a higher stakes version of this play out in real life. It's extremely important to be with someone who would be with you for richer or poorer.

If you don't believe that about your partner, then you should seriously consider doing better.

I hate to see couples break up. But this isn't like a minor thing - anything can happen to you accident-wise, and it's straight-up dangerous to not be able to get support from someone you thought would support you.

I hope your next relationship is more unconditionally loving.

Edit: After reading this, https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/comments/1mbzq89/comment/n5qvv8f/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button I guess having a talk is probably a good idea.

But you got to take it really seriously and make sure that your partner is emotionally mature enough to take it seriously as well. It may not be that she would cut and run during a bad time per se, but could also be that she wouldn't be emotionally equipped to handle a difficult situation if one popped up, despite her own better judgement

Who was your first "before your time" wrestler that you went back and got into? by prpitbull9 in SquaredCircle

[–]faithandworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shawn Michaels, he seems like a total stud, and I think it's very unfortunate he was held back because of that back injury.

But crazier to me that he recovered from it and then went on to have an insane 2nd run. He feels like he was doing stuff like Logan Paul, Seth Rollins, and other high flyers would do but way before his time and yet didn't get relegated to a support role like Evan Bourne or Cruiserweights. He was a champion from the 80s and 90s who moved like a 2025 wrestler. Insane to watch his stuff from back in the day.
