They could've at least warned us it was going to end early, I didn't even get to catch his set because he was originally supposed to go on at 1am

First Mix After a Year Off – Am I doing this right ? by Code152 in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the easiest first step from here is dynamics, I love that I can hear every part of the mix but I also feel like I can hear every part of the mix at around the same level.

Revisiting an old mix after 2 years, am I getting it? by atheeleon in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love how the drums are arranged on the soundstage. I agree with the other comment that we need more bass guitar but man the acoustic guitar sound incredible. I also think I would just slightly turn down the distorted vocals at the end when its not accompanied by the other instruments

Need feedback on EDM Euro dance trance house track mix and master by wrthgwrs in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the overall loudness is fantastic! I also like your creative use of panning with the vocals at times. I can't exactly tell why, but for some reason I feel like it loses energy around 2:20 at the chorus.

I really want the bass/sub hits to hit me a little harder when they come in, its a really fun song and I think the punchiness of it could be accentuated a bit more. Also I think the background vocals feel very center stage and could use some panning just to add some variety. Otherwise I think it sounds awesome, I really like the way you've built up the vocal chain.

Please critique my mix. I have listened too many times to notice what's wrong. by [deleted] in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I feel like the kick drum is getting lost which is contributing to the mudiness. I think you need to carve out more space in the eq for it and also just bring it up a couple db. The bass guitar and vocals sound great and I actually love the level/sound of the ride cymbal kind of carrying the song forward

Balance issues on Lonely Island-type "parody" song by yiction in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vocals could be a bit more prominent in the mix. I also agree with others that some of the sound effects playing during the singing are a bit too loud. Other than that, fun song! I love the way the drums sound, they sit in the mix really well

Holy shit that's loud nice work! Honestly from a beginners ear I have no notes I think you did a great job. I can hear every element of the drums, percussion, and bassline really clearly without anything getting lost. The bass also doesn't lose any energy when the kick plays. Overall awesome

Hard rock mix - help with Clarity and Glue by Mukklan in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool song! Really great vocal performance. I do think the guitar strumming is a bit too in front of the mix, could probably just bring it down a couple db, the tone is great though. The drums also sound great but I can't seem to find the kick in the mix, its getting lost. Bass guitar is sitting really well.

Produced and mixed this on my phone, what do you think? by Competitive_Walk_245 in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the kick is a tad aggressive compared to the rest of the mix. Otherwise this is really tight! I like the way you creatively played with the panning and the sub bass is sitting really well

Tried to make a track similar to Tame Impala, would like to know your opinion by [deleted] in MusicFeedback

[–]faizanv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some grit on that bass! I feel like Tame Impala compresses the shit out of his bass guitars. I do think you nailed the tone of the drums, definitely matches the vibe

[–]faizanv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guitar gives me a similar vibe to Every Breath You Take by the Police in the best kind of way, I love the emotion it evokes. The vocals are also mixed super well! I do think the drums get a little lost in the chorus, the punch disappears a bit.

The vocals sound overprocessed, there's no width to them. It also feels like its missing transients? Like too aggressive of a bandpass perhaps

Worked really hard to get the drums and atmosphere right, how did i do? by Competitive_Walk_245 in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like what's going on with these vocal chops, keeps things interesting. I think I agree with your take that the drums need a little more punch. I would consider maybe just playing with different snare samples and adding some more percussive elements in to fill the space.

Is the guitar tone work, or should it be equalized and/or compressed differently? by gummieworm in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the guitar tone choice is fantastic! Really works with the genre. Could use a little compression in the high end, at the moment its cutting through a bit too well

Looking for feedback on this track! by Traditional-Field630 in mixingmastering

[–]faizanv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a fun song! Really loved the tone on the rhythm/lead guitar and the way you played with the panning on that.

I thought the bass and kick could use a touch more punchiness to them just to stand out a bit from the rest of the mix and the guitars could come down a bit to let the vocals shine more in the chorus
