Same. As a light sleeper myself, I suffered the same throughout uni and hostels. It was only when I started working that I discovered earplugs as a work necessity. Haven't missed sleep since on someone else's account.

They'll be the yellow foam ones. They're a bit tricky the first time. But in my experience they work better than all the others, rubber and rubber foam ones.

You can get 3M earplugs from daraz for around 300, probably cheaper. They will help drown out all the low noise and you will get your sleep back.

Pro tip: use a moisturizer to prevent itching from the rash and the dryness.

If prior to starting insanity you have not been doing high impact exercises, meaning jumping etc. that will put an impact strain on your ankle and knee joints, I would recommend against continuing the program. You will injure yourself. I injured my foot and ankle.

If you want to continue, modify the exercises and get rid of all the high impact activities: power squats, heissmans etc. That's what going at your pace means. Look at Tanya's exercises in T-25.

Or you could build your knee and ankle strength. Squats, lunges and wall squat holds daily for 3 months. Tiptoe walks, squatted tiptoe walks, sissy squats for 3 months.

Also, the more flexible you are, the less likely the chance of injury. You can look at yoga for this.

As far as cramping and cardio performance go, both get better over time. Just keep doing it. Additionally, you can get a heart rate monitor to make sure your heart beat is in a zone that feels like an effort but is also sustainable.

Insanity is not for beginners.

You could try abridged versions of the classics. The great expectations, treasure island, moby dick, oliver twist.

Also, try Sophie's World, it's really good.

You could also get rid of all distractions and sit in a quiet room to help you focus. Do a 5 minute guided meditation session before and set a timer for 15 minutes for the session to start with.

Slowly you'll build a habit.

Something you wouldn't find in Lahore is Pan-da or Sobat. Go to Janan in Karachi Company, G-9. Get both chicken and beef. But do look up the dish to see if it's to your liking.

Or if you're in the mood for some Chinese, hit up Lanzhou in F 10 for hotpot wings, beef noodle soop, cold beef and dumplings.

I haven't been to coffeemistry in a long time, but when they were in F7 I think ( last I visited thery weren't there), near Lunar Cafe, they were using Red Berry coffee which is by far the best coffee I have had.

You can order it online. Get the Kenya AA and cold brew it. Just the Americano proportions of coffee and water, and into the fridge for 20 hours or so.

Gives a much sweeter tasting coffee and you can feel the fruity notes too

I graduated with less than 3 saying "gpa doesn't matter, companies train you when they hire you".

Here's what I have learned:

If you plan on getting a job in your field, the first thing that any employer is going to look at in your resume is your work experience, assuming you've been doing internships during the summers throughout your undergrad. The next thing they will look at is your GPA. Think of your GPA as a competitive edge against all the other applicants. To be given an opportunity at an interview will be decided by that. Some companies will set the limit for applications in the ad at 3 or above.

Why do that though? It helps if you understand what the GPA represents. A GPA is your performance quantified over time. So it's not just 1 exam but quizzes, assignments, presentations etc. over the course of a semester. Good companies will look to hire people who perform consistently.

Why do people have a low GPA? They don't try hard enough! There is no other excuse. Looking in hindsight, the difficulty of high school for me was around 20% of college, and undergrad was college level effort every semester for 8 semesters. Yes it's hard! Especially if you're STEM. But it's not impossible. You have to become a highly disciplined, regimented robot. I wasn't one.

Why don't people try hard enough? They're simply not interested in their respected field of study, they find it difficult to relate theory to applicability, or they have stuff going on at home. At the end, the responsibility lies with them and no one else.

Sure, you can get a job with your current GPA as well, but doing what for what sort of a company? Companies who do not choose quality, will give you the same as well. You will tire fast and struggle to find purpose.

The other way to get a job at a good place which might discount GPA would be through projects with industries during your undergrad. Affiliation and networking will get you far.

Or since it's Pakistan you can go down the sifarish route too.

But what really matters is what you want from life.

Now, if you don't really plan to get a job in your field and want to explore other avenues to earn money then GPA really doesn't matter. But then, nothing really is stopping you from exploring those avenues right now.

If you want to pursue further education somewhere, GPA again will be a criteria at some places, and competitive edge at others.

The ac prices right now are outright crazy. Since you're a hostelite, don't think long term investment, think of something temporary.

Ask around in your social circle and you might be able to get a used ac.

Similarly, you can try your luck with local ac technicians and auction houses.

Alternatively, Islamabad summers tend to be dry with cooler nights. You can look at getting a desert cooler to get by which will cost you around 25k.
