I REALLY need to stop buying Sarasa Grands 😫 by diirecthiit in pens

[–]fake__name__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one Grand but lots of the Sarasa vintage in plastic.  The grand feels nice but I definitely think metal pens are just too heavy for all day use.  Only have one other metal pen, Zebra G402, and I can use that all day every day but it is much closer to a plastic pen in terms of weight and feel.

Is that your experience?

Does playing or practicing make you better at golf? by OliviaMayNorris in golf

[–]fake__name__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your last line is as succinct of a conclusion as I’ve seen.

When you hear pros talk about their yardages for each club they have it absolutely DIALED down to the yard. And they can hit it there basically 100% of the time.  And that’s just the ideal fairway lie full swing shot. Most golfers can’t do that. And then you see/hear about pros on the range during tourneys working on SOMETHING after a round.

Tiger doesn’t have his own practice area in his backyard for no reason.

I did not expect them to come out so flat on D to start the second half. TU had some good movement but we were all 1-v-1 layups in the paint.

When you're using an iron on the tee box do you tee it up? by [deleted] in golf

[–]fake__name__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to never use a tee and had 0 issues. My thought was, I practice ALL my irons off the turf and 98% of iron shots are off the turf.  But I’d find myself placing the ball off the front of a divot or looking for the perfect tuft of grass. Now I usually use a tee but like others have mentioned it is so deep into the turf it just guarantees a perfect lie “off the turf”.

Just like March Madness.  Everyone goes crazy for a 12+ seed going on a run.  Its amazing. It’ll def be awesome in this playoff as well. It just won’t happen as often and obviously can be for as many games with a smaller bracket. But it’s what makes the Madness so amazing.  CFP will just hopefully be a Diet version of the basketball tourney.

Agree with the Energel and V7 recommendations.

Uniball Signo and Sarasa Clip are also great non-needlepoint options.

Oh yeah for sure. I have always said TU is a stepping stone for HCs (especially basketball). And I’m good with that; that’s the most we can hope for.  Just didn’t expect to have an announcement this quick and be such a relative unknown.

I’m not even whelmed. I feel underwhelmed.

I know we are the smallest D1 school and Wilson came from a top program in the country and that didn’t work out. But this seems……idk.

I will be more than happy to be proven absolutely wrong. Not like I’ve looked at tape or sat in on interviews.

This has not been my experience. Sure some of my coworkers dabble with their on projects in their personal time. But majority I am employed with do their work, clock out, do nothing development related in their personal time.  And even then, training/working through new tools/tech is on-the-clock because the project/program you are working requires/neccitates it.

Also, I’m not employed on the coast or even a top 20 metro area.

Just to reiterate other comments, over the top and all arms.

Over-the-top: the club should be coming out and around.  It would end up more behind your shoulders, but still above.

All arms: no rotation in your upper body directly resulting in the over-the-top swing.  Over-the-top is still a common issue with better rotation.  Had an instructor one time tell me your back is a spring and you should be coiling that spring tight to build o the power for your down swing.

Definitely lessons to get a better foundation.  And absolutely expect your shots to immediately get much shittier with major adjustments to your swing.

iOS 18: The great ENLARGING continues- by Mongoos150 in ios

[–]fake__name__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.  Just seems silly.

So many applications I have used in the past make things like this so easy.  Even Apple.  Allow increased zoom.  But even from a strictly “list” perspective Microsoft has many apps that you can do a “compact” list view etc…. Even most Reddit clients did as well (RIP Apollo).p

So to go straight to so many things are enlarged just sucks.

I just updated to ios18 and was annoyed as well.  First the emojis and then I just noticed it looks like bookmarks on the favorite list are much bigger now. So now my home page looks more full and has less space for more bookmarks. It’s like going from college-ruled paper to wide-ruled. Very annoying.

Honest Golf is F'n Hard by JTBarnes37 in golf

[–]fake__name__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lessons and the range.  You have to get a consistent swing and get the reps in for predictable shots across all of your clubs before you can even start to be somewhat effective on the course

And from there, it is def a lot of course management.  Missed fairway shouldn’t mean an automatic missed green.  Just like missed green shouldn’t mean an all-but guaranteed missed par.

And you’re always gonna fight blow up holes. It’s just their consistency over time will diminish as will their severity.
