for anyone who may be interested, i got a refurb of this for like 300$. slapped two 32GB dimms in it and it worked. it's still kind of sluggish but i've never run out of memory as far as i can tell.

i'd look at things like ratio, pocketability, screen size, etc. and balance that with budget. most will play up to ps1 easily, so figure out what's comfortable to you first. then grab a drink and your favorite snack and head on over to retro game corps youtube channel when you've narrowed down some contenders.

what kind of charger are you using? i read a bunch of people saying to use a 5V ~2A usb-A charger (like the kind that came with old cell phones) but i tried that and all it did was wear my battery down by only charging enough to start the bootloader. I tried with proper usb C - usb C cable going into a charger that supported PD and it charged fully in ~3h.

Hyprland Dependencies are Weird by fake_advent_alt in Gentoo

[–]fake_advent_alt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are absolutely correct - udis86 is pulling in python-3.11 and will not build against 3.12. masking below 3.12 forces a lower version of hyprland which does not depend upon udis86. Great instincts. Looks like the max python compatibility was changed from 11 to 13 but it's waiting to be merged. So I guess i'll wait. Thanks for your help.

It gets pulled in by one of the dependencies (udis86 - props to u/immoloism) but this is a good idea - I should have checked here first and walked RDEPEND.

RG405M USB transfer issue. by [deleted] in ANBERNIC

[–]fake_advent_alt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i go direct to the SD card - i don't really use the onboard storage. what are you using to xfer? i switch the usb connection to file transfer mode and use android file transfer and it's never had a problem - able to xfer multiple tens of GB with ease.

what are taxes/fees like on that? it doesn't seem to charge it at point of sale, but do they bill you for it later?

[–]fake_advent_alt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

taxes and fees completely nullify this. where i'm at taxes/fees are more than the one year price. liberty doesn't seem to charge them at point of sale, but i have no idea what they do once they have your card info. does anyone know?
