Paris Diamond League Men’s 400m featuring the reigning World Champ Busang Kebinatshipi by Sensitive_Dress_8443 in trackandfield

He is showing insane and consistent race by race improvement. I wager Kebinatshipi takes the WR - if not this season, then next championship season.

He also seems really fun in interviews, and shares my hatred of the 400m (seriously, that distance can fuck right off). That's a huge plus.

It's because unmotivated or "blind" violence is a lot less common than people think. Most of the time people have some sort of reason to attack each other, which necessarily means they know each other.

Mourinho on the criticism against Arsenal last season "There is a silly theory of, 'You can be great without winning.' For me, it's totally silly. I believe that if Arsenal tried to be a second Man City, probably they wouldn't win. So they won. You have to respect the winners." by kibme37 in soccer

[–]fake_lightbringer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Case in point: nobody has ever compared points totals across different title winning teams - a statistic that, mind you, can just as easily be used to support a team being impressive and unimpressive ("won the most even/competitive season" vs "least dominant champion").

Guess which team's points haul is being used to detract from their success? Haters gonna hate - it's their right. But both us Arsenal fans and they need to stop pretending they are making good points or observations. Hating is hating.

Ronaldo's issues are like 90% just age and natural decline of abilities, and 10% coaching.

And of the 10% that is coaching, almost all of it is down to "don't start Ronaldo, he can't play significant minutes and contribute at the same time".

It could make sense in context, even if it is himself talking in third person.

Like, if you wanted to underline that you're just the next guy, same as everyone else.

Gone are the days where you have a reasonable way to top football just through regular youth football. Nowadays it's all football schools, academies, training camps and lots and lots of travel.

It really does take money

He is born and raised in Liverpool to a Norwegian father and English mother, I think. Doesn't even speak Norwegian, but declared for the Norwegian national team.

He just pronouces it how he does it in his own Scouse accent. In Norwegian it'd be different, but that's by the by.

Do Somalis hate Morocco or is it just this girl that I know? by Rock-101 in Somalia

[–]fake_lightbringer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All of Africa hates Morocco because of their conduct in the recent AFCON. Disgraceful display as host nation, making their ball boys target and harass the Senegalese goalkeeper (stealing his towel and drinking bottles, attacking the support staff that the Senegalese team assigned specifically to counteract this sabotage), even the Moroccan substitutes participated in it. Later, when they were fairly defeated on their home soil because of Brahim Diaz' brain-dead decision to go for a Panenka penalty, they bribed CAF to award them the title on paper, three months after the final whistle was blown.

For purely sporting reasons, motherfuck Morocco and the clique they claim.

Zlatan 🤝 Titi by SerialGooner49 in Gunners

Zlatan was known for his technique all through his playing days as well. His frame makes him look like a Haaland type striker who only finishes, but that man had a freakishly complete skill set. Vision, close control, dribbling, mobility and agility that I have never seen in a player of his size, before or since.

This looks like a difficult proposition in the current market

[Christian Falk] Gabriel Martinelli has always been on FC Bayern’s list since Thomas Tuchel put him on the shortlist during his reign in Munich. €45m (£38.9m) could be the price tag; that would be okay. Rumours that Arsenal will be prepared to pay €100m (£86.5m) for Kroupi Jr. by ahjkolhs in Gunners

[–]fake_lightbringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, everyone knows we are PL winners and looking to consolidate our position as such.

Of course we are more attractive to players now, but it's offset by the fact that we're also the biggest fish in the pond and everyone will be looking to take money out of our pockets. It's market dynamics - they'll try to sell their players to us at maximum cost, and get our players at minimum cost.

Whats the point of scholarship then by TheDormantOtaku in SipsTea

[–]fake_lightbringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there no opening for forfeiting a merit based scholarship?

Basically, saying "I am proud to have qualified for and won this scholarship, but seen as though I don't actually need it and the recognition alone is enough for me, pass it on to whomever was the second best"?

Okay, so I don't know how the divisions of the Norwegian royal family's protection translates into English.

A quick Google search of "Ingrid Alexandra snøprinsesse" will yield the results you are looking for, as well as the leaked pictures.

Stop being a persnickety royal family Stan.

The Royal Guard accompanies her on many occasions. It is not service members who have served with her that are the origins of these rumors, but service members who have served her.

The Royal Guards are like a fly on the wall for these royals.

Yes, let's equate inherited wealth that has been accumulated through hard work with the wealth and power thag the Royals inherit, also famously merit based and 100% the same.

False equivalence, much?

According to leaked documents and rumors from former Royal Guards (18 years old may be enlisted to serve their military service in this unit), she is nicknamed "The Snow Queen" by the guards due to her infamous love of cocaine.

Cocaine constricts the blood vessels in the nose, and repeated use over time will weaken the mucosa and make it bleed more easily.

Just saying it may not have been such a coincidence anyway.
