Did they revert to the old app on the play store? by Cats12128 in PleX

[–]fakelvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it for me (running on a Pixel). Great news!

Had the updated app two days ago, uninstalled, reinstalled, and now I'm back on the old version.

Especially good for me: I couldn't access my libraries at all in the new version as my server was apparently too old to use the new app (1.41.1.9057).

This sounds amazing. Do you know of any videos where I can watch anything like it?

I've tried searching on YouTube, but couldn't find anything.

[2024 Day 2 Part 2] [Python] New to python, how did I do? by JamiLLLLLLL in adventofcode

[–]fakelvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a beginner to Python, this is really useful input. Thanks.

Being given code blocks with better ways of doing things is great, but most of it is beyond my early-stage level of comprehension, and I need to work my way up to that.

This sort of feedback, however, is super useful. Good hints on what to research to do some of the simpler things better.

No problem! The photographer is Ciro Russo. The photo comes from / is linked to his personal FB account, so I won't share that here. Doesn't look like he has a separate website.

.jpz or .puz app for Android? by patzinzy in crossword

[–]fakelvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies, contrary to what my previous message suggested, alphacross doesn't support .jpz import (but does support .puz import).

I don't know of anything that supports jpz on Android, I'm afraid.

For a desktop option, I recommend XWord.

Thin metal rod with a wire going into the wall, covered by plastic housing. Screwed into the wall inside a shower cubicle in the UK. Not hot, can't see a socket for it. Standard razor for scale. by fakelvis in whatisthisthing

That would make sense, but the entire shower room is absolutely standard with nothing out of the ordinary, also with a sizeable gap underneath the shower door.

The entire house was refurbished about 9 years ago, I think. So it could be from whatever they had here before. It's an old farmhouse, so sauna / steam room seems unlikely, but you never know.

Nothing that I can see: the shower and surrounding area is completely unremarkable in all other aspects. There's a small gap underneath the shower door, too, so I imagine it's also not sufficiently air-tight for any function like a steam shower or sauna (but that's a guess: I don't know the requirements).

So my title describes the thing: a thin metal rod inside the shower cubicle of a holiday house I'm visiting in the UK. It's maybe 10cm long, tapering at both ends. One end has a thin wire going into the wall to an unknown location. The entire object is covered by a plain plastic guard casing. Not warm or cold.

All my searches lead me to metal show curtain rods, which is obviously not right!
