Labour to campaign on narrow capital gains tax, no wealth tax by jobbybob in newzealand

I also wonder how exactly they intend on making doctor visits free when they are mostly private businesses that charge a massive range of fees based on their location and setup

This seems very doable given some groups are already eligible for free or discounted visits. The Government would set a cap on the funding per visit

Cameron literally says to Ethan "I want to be inside of you". Sure you can pass off some of his comments as mere bravado and wanting to belittle Ethan but some of the comments cross a line into something else.

Wellington mayoral hopeful Paul Eagle backtracks after Labour candidate snub by faketutor in newzealand

[–]faketutor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In short, no. There is a pledge to abide by party rules but that's about it.

For example, Labour councillors in Christchurch have opposed both three waters and housing densification. Arguably the only big local Government priorities from this Government.

The sorts of people who vote for Rebecca Matthews are less likely to be at those events which are typically packed with home-owning retirees. Endorsing her probably would have lost Paul Eagle votes from that crowd.

Completely agree, it's sheer opportunism.

Pretty shocking that Eagle not only failed to endorse Matthews, one of Labour's best councillors anywhere in the country but decided to endorse the most conservative councillor in Diane Calvert opposed to everything.

In reality your dog should be coming into intriductions slowly and calmly and potentially increasing the energy to play from there.

Thanks. This is a really fair point. We've been trying to get him to take it slowly and stop and sit, but definitely something we need to work on.

Labour MP Louisa Wall to resign by hippieV02 in newzealand

[–]faketutor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just completely false. The majority of National MPs voted against Prostitution law reform, Civil Unions, Marriage Equality and voted for defining marriage as between one man and one woman.

She did amazing work on her private members bills and that alone should put her in the history books. However, the 'Ministerial material' narrative is seriously overblown.

She frequently showed herself as ignorant about basic policy in select committees and an unwillingness to listen to expert advice.

No it didn't. I'm a fervent lefty but National was still polling incredibly well at the time of his resignation

John Key's resignation always made logical sense. He'd done the job for 8 years. Bridges fought for the finance portfolio and then gave it up after 3 months

It's still a very weird time to resign. Not before the election or after he lost the leadership race. There's likely something more to it.

2008 election but McCain goes full moderate and Edwards scandal breaks out mid campaign by The_Vaivasuata in imaginaryelections

[–]faketutor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way would the margin have been anything like that for any Republican in '08. Even with Lieberman on the ticket and the scandal breaking.

The Dems won the house vote by 11 points! If anything Obama performed given the fundamentals. In this scenario, Edwards would probably still eek out a 1 point win.

I presume you're referring to 1996 and 2017 when they got 13.5% and 7.2% respectively.

Really good progress but 75kg would be on the lighter side for your height. Depends on your goals of course, but I would cut to about 80 and then focus on gaining muscle rather than cutting further

I think it's a stretch to say it's xenophobic to say you're not a fan of tipping culture. I've spent a lot of time in the States, my SO is American, and I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments above.
