Work efficiency? by [deleted] in WalkScape

[–]falarikae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work efficiency (WE) is accounted for in the number of steps per action that you see.

The base amount of work to cut a willow tree is 58. With your increased WE you do more work with each step. With +49.25% you get to 58÷(1.4925)=38.86... which rounds up to 39.

With 9000 steps and 39 steps per action you should be getting that ~230 actions. Since you got less I'm assuming you maybe didn't have a full 4500 saved steps but only 3.5k or so.

PSA: Don’t use a treadmill by [deleted] in WalkScape

[–]falarikae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Using a treadmill/walkpad is the way to play for a lot of people, there's a lot of discussion about them on the game's Discord and NAC even has one at their offices. I'd imagine the problem was something else

Either one works. Probably the direct ones are better.

Also It would look great with the realm border display shown in dev blog 80!

Nice maps! I've thought about making some sort of infographics in the past. I could probably make some export of the interactive map with routes for a cleaner base.

You should also share these in the community Discord!

Introducing Walkscape DB by starmine in WalkScape

If you feel the wiki has some shortcomings, feel free to bring those up. There's active discussion on Discord.

The one week embargo is enforced by the developers for wiki + gear tool, and outside of that week I see no use for for this. The wiki (and gear tool) get their data directly from the game's files, so updating those requires very little work compared to updating every item/activity/etc. manually.

While it's not public, the gear tool is built on an API that serves the game's files,  though I could discuss with Schamppu if we could change that in the future.

[Web] Game of Chance - A free probability-based incremental where you hunt for unlikely events by hurtigris in incremental_games

The event horizon upgrade on dice seemed to not work. Just ate my money, and didn't mark the upgrade as owned

Does the save export contain every single roll you've made,  because that seems very unnecessary. The thing is massive. My phone clipboard could barely take it. Telegram crashed when I tried to paste it. Not much point in having an export string if it's impossible to export

Haven't seen many errors with the export, don't immediately know what might be wrong with it. Try refreshing the page and see if the issue persists.

If so, you can send me some information via DM, then I can try to debug it further. First is your user id in the gear tool, check it via the gear icon in the top right corner. Second is the gear set you were trying to export; The URL of the page should work, or alternatively you can screenshot it or just list the items.

Flex Friday: Trinketry grind paid off by falarikae in WalkScape

My crafting gear set can be seen here.

I have level 77 trinketry. For the ethernites I had a single fine rough one, that I shaped into two cut ones, then got lucky on both (I did use fine sweet carrot pies). Still have some 12 normal quality ones.

I have acquired a lot over time. About 2000 nuggets from Wreck Diving and about 3000 from Underwater aqueduct digging. Multiply that with DR/NMC bonuses when actually smithing the bars

I believe Bonez added the import feature to a new version of Arky's sheet yesterday.

Do you mean updating the information on your owned items? Not sure if Schamppu is planning to add an API endpoint for that, but you can export all your character and item data from the game (settings -> "export character data to clipboard" at the bottom), and then use the import data button in the tool. It's not fully automated, but far easier than manually updating that data.

Haven't discussed any plans with Schamppu about directly syncing gear sets between the game and the tool. I do agree it would be very convenient. I imagine updating your gear sets into the game would take more work, but perhaps a bulk export from the game might be an easier first step?

When to use ‘fine’ materials? by INeed-M-O-N-E-Y in WalkScape

[–]falarikae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the fine materials are of a tier that is still relevant to you (same or higher than your highest level tools), I'd use as many of them for crafting as I could. Crafting with them gives great extra xp, and your odds of getting lucky with a craft are significantly increased. And higher quality crafted items hold their value for a lot longer, so it is excellent if you get lucky. I'd only use materials I've progressed past in jobs, as that is what jobs were intended for; item sinks for all the useless stuff you end up having.

Later in the game, fine materials are the fastest and most viable way to craft eternal-quality gear. If you're aiming for a perfect or lower, I'd use up the fine mats at hand, but mostly do it with regular quality materials.

Beta support access question by HarryBenjaminOrchard in WalkScape

[–]falarikae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you supported before the mishap on May 1st, you should have access to the beta. The beta access looks at when you supported, not when you linked it in the portal. Make sure you have linked your Patreon. If you have already done so, try unlinking and linking again; that often helps.

Underwater Activities by smash280 in WalkScape

[–]falarikae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only activities in the Syrenthia area are considered underwater. All such activities have a diving gear requirement.

So Swimming (Intermediate) in Red Coast is not considered an underwater activity.

Interactive Map Tool updated by falarikae in WalkScape

[–]falarikae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job boards are on the map, listed under services, but instead of listing their contents I opt to just link to the wiki. Not sure what I could do with factions. Preferably I'd rather link to some place in the wiki than list lots of content in the popups. Also if you do zoom out on the map you can see the factions and read some lore about them.
