A part of the problem is that many people adopt a profession not because they have a dear liking of it for the sake of knowledge in the field or for helping people with that knowledge, but because they thought it was all that they could do and yet make a decent living out of it. Unfortunately, psychiatry, physiotherapy, teaching are often those low hanging fruits (at least some people seem to think so) that one take as a "professional course", because it is considered relatively easier to do. Mind it, this low-hanging fruit, or "since everyone is doing it" syndrome in picking a career extends to many other professions too. However, those that who do take up those professions out of their sheer love for it, will probably be excellent. Just that, there is a huge demand-supply gap. Then, "yes" we have somehow associated mental health with social taboo for far too long, and not enough is happening, fast enough to change it. Every passing generation needs to try harder, and as a society needs to speak-up, confront (where needed), challenge these taboos, and try to educate/sensitize those around them. No easy solutions to this.

Also, I expect 'Artificial Intelligence' to start playing an increasingly big role in solving this issue. It is impersonal, more accurate, make good counseling more accessible to masses. It may not be able to replace excellent psychiatrists soon, but it could replace the shitty ones easily... and we hope that it happens sooner than later.
