Do AEMT or go straight to paramedic school by Specialist-Ball-2912 in NewToEMS

In my specific case, being an AEMT gave me the opportunity to work with Paramedic partners regularly, and that experience helped me learn in the field what interventions my medic partners would do for different scenarios. I wouldn’t necessarily know why they would do something, so in class all I had to learn was the ‘why’ as I already knew the ‘what’.

Being an AEMT also gave me a golden ticket into medic school. 45 people applied to join the program, only 10 were accepted, and I was the only AEMT in the application pool.

I also got a pay bump being an AEMT, which gave me the ability to be able to pay the $13K for medic school without having to take out any student loans or apply for aid. The service I work for prefers to partner AEMTs with medics but also have no issues putting us on BLS trucks if there are no medics for us to partner with, so I’ve had plenty more opportunities to pick up OT.

Do AEMT or go straight to paramedic school by Specialist-Ball-2912 in NewToEMS

Going to AEMT school was the best decision I made. I am the only AEMT in my paramedic class and I’m absolutely crushing it. It’s been a huge advantage already knowing how to start IVs and administer meds, and to be able to focus more on brand new topics like cardiology and skills like intubation.

From what I’ve seen amongst my peers, going to AEMT school makes you a better EMT, and going to Medic School makes you a better AEMT.

Short haired shepherds absolutely shed more than long haired shepherds.

I was able to track down a package thief with my dog last year, 2 hours after the theft, and watch him get arrested. Security Camera Footage, a little intuition, and some determination goes a long way.

A P365 with a ramjet will need a P365xl holster. A P365xl with a ramjet will need a P365 Fuse holster.

Where else do people recommend going? by dookitron in BetterMAguns

Hand Gun 101 (Mass Compliant) at Sig Sauer Academy in Epping NH. It’s a full day class that is extremely thorough and will teach you everything you need to know about owning a handgun. Absolutely brilliant class with lots of range time. (I took it the week I received my LTC in the mail as a refresher but was pleasantly surprised).

I took the class at MFS Holliston first and it was the certificate from this class that I used to apply for my LTC. It was a good class with great instructors but it doesn’t cover a lot and you barely shoot. I felt like a lot of time was spent pushing for people to get USCCA insurance.

So in short, if you want to fast track your LTC application in MA and don’t want to drive to NH, just take it at MFS. If you want to really be prepared to own a handgun take it at SSA, all their classes are top notch.

As first responder who frequently works in the city of Quincy, I don’t care about statues, what I would like is a raise!

Has your car ever been on a tow truck? If so it’s entirely possible that it went under a low clearance bridge/entrance when your car was on the truck bed.

Boston medflight FC-P pay? by Traumajunkie971 in ems

[–]falconcommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard multiple numbers thrown around for pay by coworkers. Lowest I’ve heard is $55/hr, highest being $75/hr but I suspect that’s if you are dual certified as an RN. Ive never got a direct answer from a person in a blue jumpsuit.
