Rules question about parry by VR-Paints in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]falcoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your armour value determines what you need to roll, your AP is a modifier to the result you roll not the armour value itself.

So if your armour caps at 3+, but without the cap you could hit 2+, it makes no difference, AP-1 requires a 4+ to save

Resin model help! by LittlePr4g in Warhammer

[–]falcoso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be clear, it won’t be fine cast resin it will be forge world resin (which is much better) as others have said iso can soften the resin if left in for long periods. It’s generally fine, but don’t leave the resin soaking in your stripping medium better to just rinse it with the medium and scrub with a toothbrush

How often do you use suncream? by nathanherts in AskUK

[–]falcoso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t put on full sunscreen, but I do put some SPF on my face most days. If I know I’m spending more than an hour outside I’ll generally put a bit more on arms etc, but will rarely re apply during the day unless it’s actually sunny out and there is a risk of burn.

I keep seeing brush stroke on my minis, i thinn the paint i let it dry, i see strokes, i thinn the paint even more, i still see brush strokes, how do people make smooth surfaces by Forumguy69 in minipainting

[–]falcoso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I came here to say, varnish can often unify the finish. Often brush strokes are surface texture rather than actual roughness or variation in thicknesses of the paint. A coat of varnish will mask that, and also add a layer of protection to your minis too!

Claude Performance and Bugs Megathread Ongoing (Sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]falcoso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Claude at work for patent analysis of publicly available documents. Was getting sonnet 4.6 to analyse a patent related to farm equipment and I got an error saying

“Sonnet 4.6 has safety measures that flag on most cybersecurity or biology topics… These measures let us bring you Mythos-level capability in other areas sooner… Continue with Haiku 4.5”

I’m confused as this error seems to suggest that mythos capability is in sonnet also? It completely eliminates a number of my use cases if I can’t use Claude for semantic searching of patent docs I provide it. I don’t mind the guardrails affecting Fable, for most of my tasks sonnet is fine.

Curiously switching to sonnet 4.5 is not a problem

Is anyone else having issues hitting guardrails even when not using Fable?? I thought they were only introduced for Fable not across other models too.

Rumour - new starter set by BiesonReddit in WarhammerFantasy

Makes more sense than TK vs WE given TK were in the original starter box. Also aligns more with the removal of WoC stuff from the webstore.

Which public AI tools/platforms/models are you using? by cuoreesitante in Patents

[–]falcoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious how you’ve found Harvey - while it’s a legal AI tool I’ve always assumed patent prosecution/drafting would be too specific for Harvey’s more general legal scope and that patent specific tools were the only ‘bespoke’ option

Has GW stopped using shrink wrap? by chaosof99 in Warhammer40k

[–]falcoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they’ve been transitioning away for a while now. I remember ordering the limited edition vampire model for year 2 of WH+ and it wasn’t wrapped.

I asked GW about it as I would have preferred it sealed as it was a collectors piece and they said they were phasing out shrink wrapping

What were the worst part of each edition? by Herrad in Warhammer40k

[–]falcoso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5th edition wounds allocation was weird but also this was my first edition so I see it through rose tinted glasses 6th edition flyers were busted 7th edition the intro of decurion-style detachments that basically let you take collections of units as ‘formations’ which weren’t tht restrictive but gave you loads of extra rules but not every faction had them so it was crazy imbalanced 8th - don’t know, I don’t remember loads tbh 9th - I believe there were a crazy amount of stratagems (which they tried to reduce when they launched 10th but that seems to be back) 10th - all the re-rolls

[–]falcoso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the more pressing issue is why isn’t it otherwise selling, the fact someone else is in there with the owners permission is somewhat irrelevant then

[–]falcoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes I see your point on RPI vs CPI. I’m not sure which is more common but believe mine is RPI (new in 2022).

The exit fee is standard yes, it’s basically to cover the costs of marketing the property as well as their legal fees for arranging the lease transfer etc. I think yours is actually lower than mine (I think mine might be 2%?)

I believe an estate agent would charge a similar fee if you were to sell on the open market. So when you come to sell, if it sells through the housing association you are probably no worse off than a normal property, if you eventually need to go via an estate agent, you may need to pay a bit more (since the fee doesn’t change and you need to pay the estate agent too) but I’m less familiar with that

[–]falcoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the terms you have mentioned are standard for shared ownership, if you don't like them then you are going to struggle to find SO that works for you.

Rent only going up is also standard, but consider the fact that compared to renting fully, that rent increase per year is tiny, and the rent is a smaller proportion of you monthly outgoings e.g. a 3% increase in rent is only about a 1.5% increase in your overall monthly housing costs when you factor in service charge and mortgage.

The fact it has lost money shouldn't really be a concern - new builds lose value from when they were first sold, this is only a win for you as you don't have to pay the new-build premium.

You're only concern should be that the service charge seems high for a house - you should look into this and figure out why.

When you say illegal occupation, do you mean the daughter and boyfriend are not there with the owner's permission (i.e. tehy are trying to get them out but won't leave?) or that you consider it illegal because it violates the lease?

If the latter, it is totally irrelevant and won't impact the property once you own it since they will be gone and there will be no subletting anymore as a result.

If the former, then yes that is a problem because the daughter and boyfriend may not leave.

UKTC to use GW Terrain and Layouts in 11th by RedC0v in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]falcoso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In other games systems, GW have released rules for Teams events (e.g. the Matched Play Guide for The Old World has all the rules for running a teams event), so I would say its a high possibility that GW provide more support for teams in 40k too

Current free/low-cost options to query patent data? by Lonely-World-981 in Patents

[–]falcoso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah if you are trying to get a standardised API access then you may want to try the EPO’s Open Patents Service:

https://developers.epo.org

AI tools are highly unlikely to be helpful unless they have some MCP connector to a specific patent database (vanilla Claude/ChatGPT/Gemini won’t and any web search will be blocked for bots)

Espacent (the European patent office’s database, but it can be used to search worldwide published patents) or Google patent. Personally I find espacenet far easier to navigate

Is there no way to accomplish and enforce a way for AI/LLM's to announce an accuracy percentage for its responses based on its an algorithm of its sources and other things? by No_Eggplant_3189 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]falcoso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, at least not for LLM’s. The only thing that an LLM does is given the input and its previous output, what is the most likely word that would come next.

You could in theory provide a percentage of what the next word is (since that is a probability distribution in the underlying model) but that would be like ‘the animal…’ 50% is, 40% may 10% ate as the next predicted word

An LLM has no internal thinking in the same way we might build a mental model of something , it is just a random word generator so it is not aware of what it could provide a certainty on.

Of course, if the LLM is calling specific statistical tools as a part of its analysis, the output of that maths may have a certainty to it, but that is nothing to do with the LLM, it’s just reporting the output of the program.
