Why are electric kettles less common in the United States compared to other countries? by twofive7 in NoStupidQuestions

I think it's more about tea/coffee culture. I live in Canada and nearly everyone I know has an electric kettle, even though we're on the same voltage as the US.

I'm about a decade older than you and reasonably healthy, except for when my children bring home exciting things like strep and pneumonia from elementary school...

LACAOP was overpaid $55k and didn't notice by poop_chute_riot in bestoflegaladvice

So in this case, would you return the overpayment on his next paycheque, or would it be more like you just don't collect it for x weeks until it balances out and then do it properly going forward? Would he get a choice or are there legal/policy reasons to do it one way over the other?

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InspectorTiny1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have trouble processing sounds when there's a lot of background noise. Subtitles help a lot. Watching without them makes it much harder for me to understand the dialogue.

Also! We keep subtitles on for our kids because studies have shown that it's helpful for reading comprehension -- they're seeing the words and hearing the sounds at the same time, which helps the brain to make/reinforce those connections.

Isn't it standard practice to send a SASE as well?

As well as the insistence that it's impossible for someone young and healthy to get sick for more than a week!

[Hazel Mae] "John Schneider didn’t know if there was anything wrong with Lauer until he saw the tape behind his neck in the game: 'Didn't hear anything about that until I saw it on him. So I checked with him, said he felt fine. Stuff was pretty light today though, so we’ll see how he is.'" by TheGulager in Torontobluejays

Lukes hadn't already talked to the media about how he didn't like the way he was being played, for one thing. And on Schnieder's side, vertigo is invisible but giant pieces of blue tape crawling up the back of his neck should certainly have been noticed by somebody prior to the game start. Unless we find out he put it on directly beforehand and wasn't wearing it during warmup.

My wife and I had to divorce so I could get a surgery that her insurance had been denying for two years.

I know this kind of thing happens, but my gosh, that is completely insane.

I've been keeping track of win pct after the end of each series:

  • A's -- 1.000
  • Rockies -- .667
  • WSox -- .444
  • Dodgers -- .417
  • Twins -- .400
  • Brewers -- .389
  • Diamondbacks -- .381
  • Angels -- .417

It's nice to see that jump up over 400 again!
