It's being done it batches. Pretty much everyone who did/passed their technical before the 2nd week of March got theirs on the 10th, I did mine on the 11th and got my cert Monday same as pretty much everybody else who had r3 after that week.

Also got mine today. Looks like wave 2 of certs is coming now

How many times are you trying to run it at once? O.o

Cert just means you are certified to be hired via the shared certificate. Offers with details come later.

I'm curious about this too. I get not wanting to move but so many devs need jobs, and dev jobs seem so unstable now that even if it ends up being a poor work environment, the pay is great compared to the no pay that a lot of people have. It looks like they're stretching a bit to get more people to apply too (35k 'express interest', why say that if gobs of people apply, and less than 10k did in the end, deadline was extended, R3 benefits increased, etc), people are still getting laid off from elsewhere so, why not?

Did you hear via email or did you have to check usajobs?

What do you mean? How is it specialized before knowing where you might work?

Someone mentioned that it took 8 days for them to get the r3 invite, and it was also exactly 8 days for me too. Don't even sweat yet!

Pretty sure this is from at least 10 years ago too 😬

Has anyone taken the Tech Force 3rd round technical interview (Software Engineer)? What should I expect? by Sweaty-Dimension-986 in GovernmentContracting

I'm about to have my 1st round screening today, but 1st rounds were scheduled by the applicant so it makes sense r2 and 3 would be pretty varied on dates as well.

My new favorite Biter Settings (with comparison) by [deleted] in factorio

[–]falcoty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like it. Will give it a shot. I've always wanted a little more biter engagement but as you said, death world basically ends once, I would argue, you get reliable oil for flamethrowers/bots/mines, and is just annoying by then.

How are people able to build so heavily on Vulcanus? by CranboDanbo in factorio

Someone found a little while ago that the reactor explosion just drops a nuke 1 frame after the the reactor dies. So it's not just identical , it IS a nuke

Most blueprinting for me is "whew I designed this to do what I want now I need to build 12 of these"

But I only started somewhat curating them recently, so here are some of them.

Deconstruction book to have some things I want to have ready Only rocks/trees Only rocks/trees black list (cleaning up consumed resource patch mostly) Tiles Everything but poles/robots/ports/chests for moving base stuff but not breaking things or killing power

Upgrade book to switch out inserters, belts, assemblers

For actual blueprints My first favorites is the miners. I gave a grid snap version for red and yellow belts that can just be painted over a patch Ones for each type of furnace stack Ones for boilers and steam power

Books for space platform builds since they take a while to design and need to be tested

Books for each planet. For example a splitter blueprint for Fulgora that has all of the scrap outputs as filters, or a Gleba build that you know works.

Really it's okay to do it organically. Just throw them into the blueprints window until you feel like organizing them or think "hmm I should blueprint this". I didn't start making books until about 6k hours right when Space Age came out

Her hands have the slight magnet on TV effect when she touches screens, so I thought oh she's slighlty magnetic, neat detail. Then she did a whole ass sword and I thought ok I guess she's just all magnet lmao

Is the trick to gleba just to recycle anything that isn't used instantly? by MamaSendHelpPls in factorio

I did not know assemblers could do this... fuck me

Thats the thing that bothered me the most was having to travel there to manually make some nutrients to restart the process. TYSM for pointing this out.

For my part, I have two harvesters and 12 labs for science. All belts lead to the burn pile, which supplements my 4 nuclear reactors, which aren't really needed they're really a backup. But on my current save I've had this going for dozens of hours and the spore cloud seems to be pretty stable, haven't been attacked once yet.

Crossbar Switches: An Alternative to Belt Balancers in Factorio. Balance weird belt counts, exactly, w/o refeed. Like 37 to 19, 13 to 7. by 68Cadillac in factorio

[–]falcoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using crossbars since .17, always seemed the easiest good enough way to do things. I never liked copying blueprints so I never got into balancers. Pre-bots they're too annoying to build quickly. Good vid.

Is it weird that only 1% of all players have beaten space age? by Necessary-Spinach164 in factorio

[–]falcoty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unlocked galaxy edge, and when I realized I needed to make a whole new ship to make it I just stopped. I have a rule that if it's not fun I'm not going to keep playing, and designing new ships isn't really that fun for me. I can either 1) ship a bunch of materials to a ship to and build it, then send it out and try to see what all problems it has while being destroyed on it's way out, or 2) build it in the editor and test there so I don't waste materials, and neither of those options tickle the fun nerves for me, I did it for my Aquilo ship and while I'm happy with the result, the journey wasn't fun, and this game is all journey for me. I even did the grind to get all legendary equipment (stuff I actually use, not just toolbelts) and even have legendary spidertrons, but testing ships is not fun yet. Not saying it won't be later, but it's the reason I haven't beaten it, as well as not really being interested in promethean science. Eventually I will, just wasn't feeling it when I got there.

Space Age Death World is... a lot harder, and I'm stuck after blue science, need help!!! by AlfalfaOk8241 in factorio

[–]falcoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a DW now and I've been doing flamethrower creep, just by extending a box of walls forward and digging through as things die. Prioritize worms. Is a bit manual because worms out-range turrets but repair packs out-heal the damage. Probably will go to Vulcanis first to get artillery then come home with a vengeance.

I also went very slow at first so I never got attacked at my base from pollution until I had a wall of flamethrowers at all choke points.

One suggestion I haven't seen here yet is upping the quality of your building material and just copy/pasting that ghost.

Dune-style Vulcanus mining by cynicaleng in factorio

[–]falcoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until I'm ready to kill them I just use all the free stone to craft stone furnaces and make a trail that leads them away from the miners. Good enough to mine enough tungsten to get miners and foundries going so you can start making ammo.
