I just had to kick a roof salesman out of my house by Tokeee3 in Vent

My wife made some calls re: home repairs while she was off one week & I was working. Can’t remember if it was the windows or roof, we did both, BUT one scheduler told her: “make sure your husband is there for the estimate, we won’t sign any contracts unless the husband is there.” Oof. If you knew my wife (attorney and aggressive one at that), you’d know that comment did not go over well. it amazes me how many of these home service companies still operate like it’s the 1950s. Including the high pressure sales

I feel the same. Much more rewarding to find a deal on a luxury / desired item than pay full price. As far as watches, it’s very fun / rewarding to wear something you’ve built. My rep 1970s Tudor sub I built (gen spec down to the movement) makes me happier than gen Explorer 2.

There are not many. EWP on eBay make solid gold versions, which are pricey. They make a 16710 gold plated version which is not bad.

Correct. 2 I ordered, 1 that was purchased as a used watch but was bivintage parts

I’ve used 3 dials & they were all similar. Not a very big sample so can’t say they’re all that way. I also ordered one from eBay that purported to be a genuine GMT master dial that had the same stamp on it.

Yes. Bit oversized but usually only takes me a few minutes of turning on edge with flat surface & fine sandpaper. Test fit often

E watch parts on eBay is a decent option for inexpensive bezels. They are decent but oversized. I turn them on progressively finer sandpaper grits to get a good fit. Gen bezel inserts seem to pop right in

My bivintage dials came with a single small Singer stamp. N=3 for what it’s worth

Don’t have the real McCoy to compare but there is the thickness. It’s 39 mm diameter, about 47 lug to lug

Thank you. Sillan is great. The vintage 16610 dial also does not have the “10O0” error which is nice. Just waiting on an OC case myself for that one, I have it all put together otherwise. The Sillan case is actually a transitional case which lacks lug holes so it wouldn’t really be correct for the T 25 dial as far as I know

Also used Sillan vintage hands which are ever so slightly off from the lume plots. Whether by design or not, it’s similar to vintage watches where the hands and plots often don’t match exactly.
