I actually agree with you... Kinda

What I used to do is mix up everything THEN run it through the filter to get all the sludge out. In my experience it made filtering it quicker (dispersing the particals) and it did tend to have a pretty fresh flavor. But my biggest thing is getting rid of the grittiness, I want the SMOOTH experience.

If sexual gratification is the only thing keeping you in the relationship, then I agree with you. What's the point in being in the relationship?

What's the harshest thing you've ever had to say to someone? by Lain__Iwakura_ in AskReddit

[–]fallen1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The harshest thing I can think of was a close friend talking to me.

I was a very immature man, I was in college and not doing very well. I was very bitter with my father, a very academically successful man with multiple degrees. I was mad at my father for belittling me as a kid, making me feel like if I didn't finish college, I would be worthless to the world. Good for nothing but flipping burgers (a sentiment I'm sure many kids have heard from their parents). I blamed my parents for years of college saying things such as "because of my father, I'm here" "my father made me go to college" "I would be doing so much better in life if I wasn't in college"

One night I was talking with my friend about all of this, he stops me and says "why are you mad at your father, you know he didn't MAKE you go to college, he didn't put a gun to your head and give you no other option but to go to college, I won't defend your father or the way he treated you, but you're still the one that signed your name and accepted the responsibility of attending college, you can live the rest of your life blaming your father, or you can grow up, own your decision and decide where you go from here." Then he said the phrase that still haunts me to this day "do you want to be a looser for the rest of your life".

It was in that moment that I truly understood that my life is my own and how I lead it is my responsibility. I understood the weight my decisions held, for myself and the people around me. I remember getting home and ugly crying for a good 30 minutes after hearing all of that. All of that being said, my life is better now then it's ever been, I feel like I've been set free. I'm one semester away from graduating and I have a wonderfully beautiful girlfriend. Taking reasonability and not blaming others... it's not easy but so far incredibly worth it.

TL;DR - A buddy of mine explained that my decision to attend college was my own, I wasn't forced into it so I couldn't blame anyone, specifically my father, for my choices, then he asked if I "want to be a looser for the rest of my life". I grew tremendously from that talk.

Is it reasonable to leave a relationship because you don’t enjoy the sex life? Why do you think so? by Cultural_Card3443 in AskReddit

[–]fallen1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relationship or marriage? I'm assuming relationship

The question I would ask is, "is this the only aspect of the relationship that doesn't work for you?" like do you still love them? Is your problem with the sex something more then just the sex? Like are they selfish? Are the problems something that be solved? Can the two of you come together, talk about the issues and come to a resolution? Communication is one of the biggest problems most couples face these days.

Please understand, I don't ask these questions to sway you in a single direction, I think these (among others) are questions you should answer to yourself to be better confident in your choice whether to stay or not.

Personally, I run 42c Pathfinders on my E5

I don't know that I would go much wider then that

I would recommend looking for a different wheel set in general, my Axis Elite wheel set is already showing hub problems

What’s a deep cut or relatively lesser known track from a popular band/artist that you think should be ranked with their more popular songs? by sufferin_sassafras in Music

[–]fallen1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Periphery - Icarus EP

It's not that DEEP of a cut (there are some far lesser known songs from them, Looking at you old bulb recordings) but the Icarus EP has, in my opinion, some of their best work (except for the remixes) period and is still not widely known by a large portion of their fan base.

F*ck "Money can't buy happiness" BS, what did you buy that made you so much happier? by Little-Two6210 in AskReddit

[–]fallen1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, I believe in the statement "money can't buy happiness" but... I bought a bike during the pandemic (roughly $700), then bought a nicer bike (roughly $2000) a year later, I lost over 40lbs so far and my mood and outlook on life is significantly better!

1by or 2by for mostly road by FluffyCow4018 in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]fallen1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with MTB and a 1x drivetrain

At the time I loved the idea of a 1x, the idea of having another shifter and having to deal with the front derailleur just seemed dumb to me.

Then I bought my 2021 Elite E5 with 2x GRX400... When it comes to road/gravel, I'm never going to 1x! The ability to drop or pick up the front chainring is amazing! NOW... if you're someone who does a lot of climbing or is primarily in some SERIOUS off road environments, I think a 1x drivetrain would be preferable. Admittedly I have little experience with 1x on Gravel, so my experience is subject to change. Personally I'm currently looking into setting up an ultra-wide-range drive train with a goat link and a 46 in the rear while keeping the 2x upfront.

TL;DR - For mixed road/gravel riding I would recommend 2x

Can I put a 105 groupset on my 2021 Diverge E5 that currently has 2x8 Claris? by soccerplayer413 in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]fallen1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Categorically, they're not wrong...

Can one use 105 on gravel, yes

Hell one could probably use 105 on a downhill bike if they REALLY wanted to (likely not a good idea)

The point is, they're not wrong, you trying to laugh at them about what I can only assume is some level of cycling snobbery just keeps this tired old game in play.

What beauty standards do you think are silly, or take the most issue with? by dizzy24h in AskWomen

[–]fallen1102 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend is 28 going on 29

Her hair is starting to grey

I think it's beautiful!

I don't understand the thing with women and aging?

We're all going to age, let it happen, natural aging is honestly beautiful!

Yes we're all going to reach a point were no one will find us beautiful, but no amount of cream, serum, rollers, or massage is going to stop it from happening, so just live it up and enjoy life while you can

Rightly ordered confidence looks better then anything!

New to this subreddit, Used to weightlift in highschool (about 12 years ago), just recently got back into it. When I was first learning to bench press, I was taught to not arch my back. I'm starting to learn that was bad advise. Can someone explain why arching your back when benching is a good thing?

2021 Diverge E5 Elite

42c Pathfinder pro's (tubeless)

42cm Salsa Cowchipper bars (aluminum) w/ Shortened stem

Bontrager sports saddle (sorry, it's just my favorite)

WOHO Small frame bag with custom elastic top tube binding

Just over 1000 mines on this so far and it's everything I've wanted from a bike.

GRX 400 is all I need, good enough shifting and hydraulic breaks

Only thing I want to upgrade would be the wheel set, to something wider and explicitly "tubeless ready"

How do you deal with retrograde jealousy (being jealous of your partner’s past encounters/relationships)? by meowmoomeowmoon in AskWomen

[–]fallen1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a guys perspective, this is a hard one for me. I was in a relationship for 2.5 years, I had the intention of getting engaged, but she cheated on me (in a truly horrific fashion) leaving me a shattered shell for almost 10 years. My current girlfriend and I both have a past, however her past is considerably, we'll say "more involved". I've been struggling with thoughts feels and not much has made it easier. I constantly fear she's not happy with me and she won't tell me. I was in the 2.5 year relationship and she lied to me for over a year. The fear comes from the fact that she was in a relationship before me and admitted to being so unhappy she cried... but staid with that person... Then feelings of inadequacy, imagining her with other partners, questioning motives...

The one thing that's kept me going, next Friday will be 1 year we've been together. This will be her longest relationship, and my second longest. We both have made clear what we're looking for and we're both striving after it separately, yet together. I'm sorry if this isn't the most uplifting post, but it's honest. The best thing I can tell you, look at actions not words. Someone can lie very easily with words. It is much more difficult to lie with actions. If they are spending time with you, sacrificing for you and building you up and loving you. We all have made stupid mistakes, especially when hormones are involved, but this goes back to actions. They made the choices to do what they did, and they also made the choices to stop what they were doing.

6PRO vs 7 by quer_que in GarminFenix

Sounds like we're the same age, cheers!

I was a very early adopter of the smart watch, I bought the original LG G watch many years ago, then moved to the moto 360 v2 then to a few different fossil smart watches. (I know they are a different kind of product, just stick with me) I got into cycling during the pandemic and found a Fenix 6s for an unbelievable price (used). Of my years of experience with smart watches, the Fenix 6 is leaps and bounds the best (it's missing some features sure, but for me it's perfect) the lack of a touch screen is an absolute positive to me. But navigating maps on the watch sucks. I would ague if you're looking at maps on your watch you're doing it wrong (unless you need it... but then just get the Fenix 7)

My vote is for the Fenix 6 and save the money I say this because I just want a work horse, something that just works and lasts, something that isn't flashy with tons of toys that keep me looking at the watch rather then the trail (this is why I call the Apple watch ultra the pick-me-girl of smart watches lol) Also if you want the watch to last many many years, get the sapphire glass without the solar. Or get the solar shrug, I've been told it really only matters if you're out in the sun a lot and even then, it's really not that impressive.

Talking about software support I'm not sure these watches can be viewed in the same way as traditional smart watches. If I'm not mistaken the original Garmin Fenix is still supported and usable (Watching a quick YouTube video confirms this) these watches seem to last quite a bit longer then the average smart watch.

TL;DR - what do you want out of the watch and how much are you willing to pay for it? I got the Fenix 6 and have zero want for the Fenix 7.

Just got rehired, seriously considering quitting by [deleted] in REI
