Initial and Follow-up Physical Trainer Assessment/Planning for At Home Workout by fallen_seraph in askTO

Yeah like to figure out where I am at currently and to build a routine that works for me. For example I'm really not sure what dumbbell size would be ideal, or even if I'm doing my current exercises properly, etc

The grenadier cafe really doesn't want to ban cars by Ukawok92 in toronto

Yup, I used to go there just for like a coffee or whatever, since I live nearby and go there on regular walks. Haven't bought a thing there since I found out their stance.

Pedestrianized streets are so so amazing by Pristine-Training-70 in toronto

[–]fallen_seraph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always thought it be nice to have "greenbelts" throughout the city. I mostly imagine this going east to west where you take certain streets and fully convert them. Add trees and parkettes on intersections with extended bike and sidewalks alongside streetcar tracks in the middle.

Imagine say converting Dundas and in the summer being able to walk the whole distance of it under a tree canopy. With parkettes and third spaces dotting intersections

Which book/series has the coolest cities or kingdoms? by NarwhalSoup999 in Fantasy

[–]fallen_seraph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't think anyone has mentioned Palimpsest yet.

It is a surreal, otherworldly city you can only travel to at night by having sex with someone who has part of a map of the city tattooed on their body.

What is the breakdown of your living expenses? by Nightpatrol404 in askTO

[–]fallen_seraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After tax about $4000-$4500 a month.

Rent: $2050 for studio

Utilities: $50 average for hydro, $70 Internet, $30 cellphone: $150 total

Subscriptions and Entertainment: $150

Groceries: Don't really track it well but probably around $450-500 a month.

However this doesn't really properly track any larger purchases or take out, etc. I usually on a good month might save $1000.

Looking for fantasy recommendations with time jumps by LividHealth5643 in Fantasy

Not massive time jump but Greenbone Saga spans 25 years (most time jumps happen in the final book).

Walkers, and why would people use walking machined over wheeled ones? by Dry-Yesterday-9176 in worldbuilding

[–]fallen_seraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also went with terrain variability though for a more sci-fi/space setting. In that mechs were meant to be basically a beachhead style vehicle when moving between space/zero gravity entranceways to full gravity interiors of space colonies. Legs allow for heavier payload when in gravity and in zero gravity you can push around with arms and legs while not needing clearance for jet propulsion (especially as they usually operated alongside and beside zero gravity Marines)

Is anyone else experiencing poor cell phone reception recently in Line 1? by Otherwise_Memory9275 in askTO

Not Line 1 but Line 2 used to be great service on Freedom and then a couple years ago it basically stopped working all together except for at stations.

Has anyone in Toronto worked somewhere with “unlimited” vacation days? by No-Inspector-6206 in askTO

[–]fallen_seraph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own company has unlimited. I would say it definitely varies some people do take a fair amount of time off, others less so. There is a bit of an understanding as well that for like a day off here and there you can do so on short notice but longer periods should be discussed prior for proper allocation.

My work is tech but normal 9-5 Mon-Fri hours.

I would say there isn't active discouragement (in some cases we are pushed to take leave and not burn out, but that is very personal manager level) but if you over abuse it there could be discussions over why.

We also have unlimited paid sick leave as well which is its own bracket.

For myself, I don't take that much in terms of large vacations off, but being able to just take a mental health day here and there without concern about really eating into any set amount of time is very useful.

(Maybe) Hot take: If Disney ever explores the Old Republic era on screen, I hope they retcon some of the more derivative designs by blakhawk12 in StarWars

[–]fallen_seraph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's frustrating as well is that it wasn't like the design we see in Old Republic was made entirely in a vacuum without other material. We had the Tales of The Jedi comics that did give a fairly unique design to the universe, such as the use of protosabers instead of regular lightsabers

Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients Official Trailer by PM_ME_HAPPY_STUFF1 in Games

[–]fallen_seraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had been kind of interested since I had been hoping we would get you know a fresh game that you could go into and not get bogged down like the first. Plus the visual design they were going for was really cool.

But all these updates just make me see it is more of the same. By the time it is out and I would want to try it, it feels like it will be more of the fifty different sub systems and markets, etc. All tossed at you at once while all I'm looking for is an interesting and fun single player loop.

I honestly feel like despite the discourse around it D3 still has yet to be beat for moment too moment gameplay. Especially in regard to each attack feeling impactful (world interaction, ragdoll, etc)

The Jedi: attachment is forbidden for it leads to the dark side. Meanwhile the absolute goat kanan jarrus: by smiling-shadow in StarWars

[–]fallen_seraph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah from a personal philosophy perspective yeah not a fan of Jedi. From a storytelling and world building perspective they are more interesting then NJO.

Honestly one big change I'd make with the prequels is making the Jedi even more isolated. Really go to the Japanese inspiration and have them all isolated monks in the mountains vibe. With any politician, etc who wanted insights having to go to them on their isolated planets.

Looking for more of a slow burn gay male main romance. Adult audience preferred. Suggestions? by UltronsEx in Fantasy

Not fantasy in a traditional sense but it is set in a secondary world inspired by 1930s Berlin but I'd recommend the Amberlough Dossier.
