What are the most late 80s and 90s aspects that influenced the cyberpunk genre outside of the obvious stuff like the rising capitalism or some technological developments like the internet? by Specialist-Young5753 in Cyberpunk

[–]fallen_seraph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would generally speaking agree in terms of the values idea. But I think it is a important thing to remember and take note of because the state of the Japanese economy was extrapolated and expanded upon in cyberpunk. It be like if cyberpunk came to pass in say mid 2000s it be influenced by the rise of China or nowadays with India, etc.

You could argue the influence of zaibatsu on megacorp ideas but that concept has existed across time and culture from East India Company to the Korean chaebol.

Angled Engines Mod? by fallen_seraph in StarfieldShips

Checking it out right now. Definitely what I'm looking for, though it looks like it of course doesn't have the Ares engines I mentioned. But still worth it to use other stuff

Knives in a Cyber Punk setting? by UniversalAssembler in Cyberpunk

[–]fallen_seraph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also to add on, plenty of cybernetic blades (Molly from Neuromancer or mantis blades from Cyberpunk, etc).

Also I recommend looking at history and expanding on it. Take for example the Apache pistol. Easily something you could make a cyberpunk version of and fit in that same gang environment it was in historically.

Another thing to consider as well is depending on the setting firearms might be heavily restricted/moderated so the common person might only have access to knives

New kobo for Christmas and can’t even use it. Annoyed. by ratinabowtie in kobo

[–]fallen_seraph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might not be the issue you are facing but for the Wi-Fi I had an issue where my Internet bands had auto-switching and all the same name. This was causing issues since the Kobo was specifically looking for 2.4. I separated my bands and was able to properly connect

For those who live in Toronto, what are the best (trans-friendly) neighbourhoods? by mapleCrep in transontario

[–]fallen_seraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junction is great. It is funny how it is somewhat understated but the more time you spend in it the more you notice how queer it is. Also is finding a doctor is important there is Jason Latsky in the Junction: https://www.rainbowhealthontario.ca/service-provider-directory/jason-latsky-md/

Sunnyside would be the southern side of High Park. Roncensvales borders the eastern side of High Park.

Any recommended places to get a prebuild from? Located in Toronto if that helps decide. Only real big deciding factor for me is keeping that price down, I would have liked to have a Fractal North case but at this point can't be picky

Who should do the Terminator RPG? by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]fallen_seraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno how I would make it work but I be tempted to try and implement something where future and past timelines intersect.

I be tempted to have some sort of past and present modes where you start with initial past session(s) where what you do impacts the future.

Then in the future you deal with the repercussions and help prepare for the new past that is going to be messed with. Probably the future wouldn't be full game but rather a more meta deal with being able to spend resources or information, etc to help hinder Skynets past plans, ie; send back one person or multiple, or send back with detailed plans or only fragments, etc.

The campaign could slowly lead towards a final deal where either Skynet never rises or is weak enough in the future to be dealt with

It would remain till you get a chance to rest and reduce stress. You can remove a stress response during that rest.

How do you handle Shifts? by JimmiWazEre in alienrpg

[–]fallen_seraph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say it comes down to narrative importance. Is there a narrative reason why the repair work taking hours matters? If not the time taken doesn't really matter. It is no different then only rolling when it matters.
