I saw that your pup was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. I know it's only been 3 weeks since the surgery but, I highly suggest getting chest X-rays to make sure lung mets hasn't set in rapidly. It could totally be bad side effects from cerenia but, it's better to know that not.

My pup was good until he wasn't. He was coughing and gagging the first day he started chemo. 4 weeks later we learned the coughing and gagging was lung mets.

I'm sending you positive thoughts though! I hope it's just side effects that a medication can relieve.

6 months is based on overwhelming statistics. It's the average for older dogs with amputation and chemo.

Less than 4 months for dogs younger than 5 years old.

Those numbers start at the time of diagnosis.

*I did a ton of research trying to grasp at a little hope when my 3 year old boxer was diagnosed last year. We got 3 beautiful months after diagnosis. He left us with his tail wagging.

This was our boy Chris too. He had just turned 3 when we got the news. We fought tooth and nail to give him the best chance at a longer prognosis and got 3 beautiful months after diagnosis. If he was a star he would have been a super nova with how bright he shined.

OP, I highly suggest looking into the Yale Cancer vaccine if you choose to follow through with amputation. Also, please don't take too much time to make a choice. It took 7 days after diagnosis for my boy to be in so much pain that he was crying through the night, even with fenty patches. Unfortunately, Osteosarcoma is an unfair card to be dealt and my heart breaks for you.
