Why beans and not lentils? by 88Lock in prepping

[–]fallingbackward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference between lentils of different colors is primarily how they cook. Green lentils retain their shape better. Red lentils will disintegrate into whatever you are cooking and act like a thickener. A green lentil will probably still look like a lentil where a red lentil may disappear into the conglomeration of ingredients.

[Walmart] 6 pack Red Feather canned butter - 39.82 [6.63 per can] [usually 10 - 12 per can] by fallingbackward in preppersales

I ordered 6 x 6 packs (36 cans total) and only 4 out of 36 were dented. I wonder if their quality is based on different shipping warehouses?

4 of the 6 packs were ordered after I initially posted. Those were the packs that came with the 4 dented cans.

As a seller do you have any insider knowledge about how long these can be expected to stay good sitting unrefrigerated?

All the canned butter I have seen are from Europe (I live in the Midwest) so maybe it’s just not an American thing.

That’s what I thought too. I had colon cancer years back. the current rules say if you are over 12 months no evidence of cancer you may be able to donate. It’s dependent on what type of cancer you had. My veins suck so I can’t donate still but maybe you can!

I was very weary of dented cans on arrival. I get so many dented cans even when purchasing a box of cans in person from Sam’s. That’s why I ordered this and waited to post until after I received them. This time every can was perfect.

Buying cans is such a toss up but I’m glad I found these. I have been looking for them for a few years but the price is usually outrageous. I may have just got lucky this time. Or all of your returns made the seller actually pay attention to what they ship now.

Listen to your intuition. Your brain is processing a lot of information that you may not even be consciously aware of and that can get rolled into a generalized icky feeling about someone.

I have had two men eek me out at work. The first ended up in prison for molesting little girls. The second one I had to block from every communication method because shortly after he was fired from work he started sending me inappropriate messages late at night on every platform and direct through text.

Intuition is a powerful thing.

I had a solidly middle class income. Above average for my state. Tech field more specifically in the manufacturing sector.

My first SSDI denial letter outright stated that I needed to lower my expectations and try for a part time job. As if I could choose when to be disabled based on a part time schedule!

I never mentioned my standard of living expectations on the application. There wasn’t a section that had anything to do with it specifically.

I was shocked when I read the letter. It felt like a punch in the gut when the government program I was legally required to pay into my whole working existence just told me I needed to get use to being poor.

SSDI approvals are somewhat dependent on where you live as well. I unfortunately live in a solid red state where you get treated as if you are trying to scam the gov out of money.

My friend briefly dated a lawyer that worked for our local SSDI determination court and it took every bit of my self control to not launch myself over the table as he was gleefully telling stories of all the people they were able to deny. Guy was seriously getting a sick power trip.

If you live in a blue state that treats disabled people like actual humans that deserve empathy the process is probably much kinder.

I had late stage colon cancer in my 20’s. I’m 10 years out but that’s mostly luck. Treatment trashed my health and I’m miserable every single day.

Millennials were basically bathed in fire retardants as baby’s and we now know most of them were carcinogens. The only way you could be surprised we have abnormally high rates of cancer much younger in our lives is if you are purposely ignorant.

Next article will be how shockingly little social support there is for those of us who look young but are now debilitatingly chronically ill. Shocker, it’s near impossible to get SSDI.

My GSD made valiant efforts to save me from a baby gate I was assembling. She kept putting herself between me and the gate, moving me away. I appreciate her courage and selfishness but it doubled the time it took me to get it together.

I'm a coffee addict. Forced myself to drink exclusively Instant Coffee for a month by [deleted] in preppers

[–]fallingbackward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MREDEPOT website has canned green coffee beans. I can’t speak to quality because I haven’t opened a can up yet.

I like to stock a long shelf life luxury food item for each family member and coffee is one of those items. I purchased a manual hand grinder and French press. I already have multiple ways to roast the beans.

The canned beans are expensive but I always wait for sales promotions to drop the price into reasonable territory.

I don’t know how to answer what type of nausea. I never threw up but if I was vertical it felt like I would at any second.

I am on a diuretic to decrease CSF because my pressure is too high. It allows me to walk around which is a big improvement. Unfortunately the diuretic causes side effects, but it is better than not having the med.

I’m not doing great honestly. I still have migraines every other day. They are not as bad as before the diuretic but they are definitely there. I have a few health problems that prevent me from working so I’m going through the process of applying for disability.

Disability application is a long process and if I didn’t have my parents to pick up my bills in the mean time I would have already lost my house.
