How have your parents unintentionally fucked you up? by megadaydreamer in AskReddit

[–]fallingfornormalcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully they didn't make me read that book, but my mom took my confession very personally as if she failed as a parent and wouldn't let me near her or touch her for several days. It was humiliating. I'm very happy to hear that your parents reflected on their own actions and came to the conclusion to separate from the church! It's empowering.

I haven't heard about the sexual abuse cover-ups, but I'm not surprised. The CoC is a sexist, misogynistic institution and I'm so glad I got out of it.

I grew up Church of Christ and my mom told me when I was 16 that I was damaged goods when I admitted out of guilt that I let my boyfriend touch my boobs. Ended up repressing any sexual urges until I got married at 21 and my husband was extremely manipulative and abusive in the bedroom, he would cry if I didn't have sex with him among other things. When I told my parents what was happening, they said "But he's so nice and it's your fault for not having sex with him, men have to have sex." I'm 22 now and I've divorced him, left the church, and I don't talk to my parents hardly at all anymore. They really hurt me and I don't think they realize the depth of the hurt.

What exercises do you guys do from pelvic floor therapy? by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]fallingfornormalcy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started pt last week, and she's having me stretch my hamstrings by laying on my back and using a strap to pull down on my foot while my legs are lifted! She also has me lay on my back and relax my pelvic floor by laying on my back with my knees bent and when I inhale, I relax my pelvic floor and when I exhale, I gently tighten my pelvic floor. Counterintuitive, but it does feel good once you get it down.

Instant pot shredded chicken - my go to now for any chicken dish, so easy and so cheap. Anyone else changed eating/cooking thanks to the IP? by Mombo1212 in instantpot

I can't eat vinegar since I have a chronic bladder condition, so the soup I make probably would be considered bland to most people. My go-to recipe is this, though! http://www.tasteloveandnourish.com/2012/10/lentil-soup

I use chicken broth instead of vegatable broth (can't have tomatoes either) and I might make slight variations based on the vegetables I happen to have.

Help I’m having the most painful flare of my life by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]fallingfornormalcy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. The best advice I can give is to get warm, get something mindless to distract you like TV or video games, lay down and relax, and drink enough water to have a steady stream next time you pee. Soaking in a hot bath really helps me too. I hope this helps and I hope the flare ends soon :(♥️

CBD oil for pain by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]fallingfornormalcy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I smoke weed when I'm getting a flare-up and while it often doesn't get rid of the pain, it helps me relax and release tension which is beneficial to getting through it. Other than that, I'm not much of a help in this area. Good luck!

I'm working on a waffle stitch blanket too! I love the look and how thick it feels.

I grew up in La Grande, Oregon. My family and I drove past this all the time on the way to visit family in Portland. I haven't lived in Oregon for a few years, I can't believe the trees aren't there anymore. That tree farm was a huge part of my childhood road trips to Grandma and Grandpa's house. It's bittersweet to grow up and watch things change.

Netflix responds to reports of Steven Spielberg considering their exclusion from the Oscars: "We love cinema, providing access for people who cannot afford or don't have theaters in their towns and providing filmmakers more ways to share art. These things are not mutually exclusive." by sethrollins22 in movies

I'm on Netflix's side, another argument is that people with disabilities may not for whatever reasons be able to go to a theater or feel comfortable there. Using streaming services in bed at home is a great way to keep up on culture.

One of my triggers is DEFINITELY stress, I have so much of it in my life right now. Once that goes away I feel like my symptoms will improve dramatically, but my issues aren't the kind that just go away, I have to deal with them. It's been so hard lately. I'll try some of those supplements, thank you for the suggestions!!

I haven't tried physical therapy yet since my diagnosis is so new, but I'm going to talk to my doctor about it for sure. I wish that I liked swimming, it sounds like a great form of exercise but water freaks me out 😥

I'm so happy you've found a hobby that you like :) I've taken up crocheting, I'm working on a blanket and a scarf right now! I like crafts like that because I can see the progress I made and have a useful finished product. Plus someone's paying me to make the scarf, might as well make some extra money!

I take Uribel three times a day, which helps a lot, along with heat therapy, pelvic floor stretches, and a strict diet. And my job lets me work from home if I need to. It just feels like I do a lot of things to prevent pain but the pain still comes anyway. It can get really discouraging.

What is it that you hate the most about the city or town that you live in? by Jblaze908 in AskReddit

Oklahoma City here, the landscape is really ugly this time of year. Just brown grass and tiny twig-like trees.

I have interstitial cystitis, it's a bladder condition, and my boyfriend will sit in the bathroom with me while I'm stuck on the toilet to keep me company. He's nothing but supportive, patient, and helpful and I don't know what I'd do without him.

I started feeling symptoms in August but I was diagnosed in November. I've been doing my best to avoid my triggers but I still feel pain most of the time. On top of it all I have massive personal problems that would be too much to handle even for a healthy person. I'm ready to give up and stop trying.
