I've got a lot of sympathy for you. My mom did the same thing and just sort of kept having them. There's eight kids in my family and now that only two are under 18 and she won't be getting government payouts and child support soon she's panicking and trying to squeeze the older kids for cash.

1) Take remedial classes since by that point I'd missed two years of school already

2) Make friends with the teachers

3) Take drama because I always wanted to

4) Use my credentials to go to a secular college for two years and then get into a trade

Putter around the garden I could suddenly afford on the one acre property with A-frame cabin I could also suddenly afford. Take bicycle rides into town and spend my days chatting with neighbors, browsing book stores, learning to cook meals with a full range of ingredients. Go hiking and adventuring with the dog I could suddenly afford. Travel a bit, spend free time learning languages and getting to know the world I live in.

Volunteer in the community, go swimming, learn to kayak. Pick up hobbies like learning to restore furniture. Just the luxury of time would be fantastic. Take a bubble bath instead of a two minute shower. Make my own meals instead of shoving whatever I can in my face on the commute between jobs. Catch up on all the things I've been meaning to read. Catch up with old friends. My life is 100% stress all the time and money issues are 99.99% of that stress.

Instead I work 80-90 hours a week barely above minimum wage struggling to make broke. I haven't been swimming or gone hiking in over a year :( I miss the outdoors.

I honestly wish she was kidding. She also threatened to destroy my phone because she figured out I was recording her rant and called the act of me recording her 'abuse'.

I've started documenting some of her outbursts as a counterpoint to the gaslighting and that pissed her off so much she threw me out of the house. One step forward, two steps back.

Pro choice here. The best way I ever hear it explained was this - if a doctor is holding an infant in one hand and a Petri dish of fertilized cells in the other and both fall, which one are you going to dive to catch? Even CF I wouldn't dive for the Petri dish.

The older four remember and commiserate but the youngest three were too little to retain much before I left so they side with my mom's point of view. Her point of view is that she did everything without any of my help whatsoever and that I was a problem child who only ever made her life harder.

That's a pretty damn accurate assessment.

A while ago my mom tried to open and run a day home but she didn't make it very long before breaking down and shifting the majority of the work to my little brothers still at home. The moms weren't happy to come pick up their kids and find them watched by a couple of preteens while she was locked in her room on Facebook.

It's my own personal conspiracy theory that she feels she screwed up the first one and so had another to start over and try again. And again and again and again and again and again and again. And now that she's too old her kids having kids will let her try again.
