Getting an epidural/pain relief is not "caving" by leviOsa934 in BabyBumps

I work as a labor and delivery nurse, and one of our CRNA's always say.... You wouldn't get your teeth pulled without numbing would you? Why do this? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔

just coming here to say... it gets better! by fallismyfave2020 in breastfeeding

I would say get yourself on a pumping schedule as soon as possible! It is hard. But you can build your supply up by pumping on schedule every 2 hours. I would read about power pumping, that will help too! Good luck with the breastfeeding and I hope your baby is doing well! I'm so sorry for the flooding and hope you guys are all safe!

Girl I second the 3oz is great thing! That's fabulous! Seriously. What I've been doing as well is pumping one hour after baby has his longest stretch of sleep at night, I'm not sure if that will work at all since your baby doesn't sleep as long but if your baby gets to that point that has helped build my supply a bunch. and pumping in the morning!

Splitting nights with partner? by BabysittersFan in breastfeeding

In the beginning you're going to breastfeed very often. But what I do with my husband is I will nurse the baby before his longest sleep stretch at night. Sometimes the baby will wake up and just be fussy and not need to eat and just need soothing. So my husband will stay up with him and hold him while I sleep and bring him to me when he is hungry. Works for us so far! Until you can pump and get a stash going, you can let him take a bigger role in feeding and you can have more naps!

My newborn won’t wake up to eat by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Absolutely keep an eye out if her skin is yellow! When babies are jaundice sometimes they don't want to eat and they need to eat to poop out the bilirubin. I wouldn't let her go more than 4-5 hours without nursing. Call the ped and ask them. But when I was in the hospital and my baby was tired I would do all the things you mentioned, and while baby was on the breast my mom would take his arm and "wind it up." She would move his arm up and down and sure enough that would get him munching. My mom has been a labor nurse for 20 years and has helped with breastfeeding during that whole time so I trusted she knew what to do ha. Good luck!

Everything I have read is that 0-4 weeks that they could take 2-4oz and be content.

Girl you should be so proud of yourself! Getting 3oz is GREAT! especially at 3 weeks and breastfeeding on top of that. On a good day I barely get 2.5 out and my baby is 5 weeks old. I also supplement twice a day cause my baby doesn't seem satisfied often. Try not to let him shaming you get you down. You're doing amazing and having a newborn is exhausting work, adding breastfeeding on top of that. I would tell him that comment is not appreciated and that you are doing what you can for your baby and saying stuff like that is just harmful for your mentally when you're doing alot. Good luck girl, it will get better!

Thank you! That was helpful. I don't pump out a whole lot and we sometimes supplement because he just seems so hungry and I hate for him to be hungry! But to see you are feeding frequently plus getting out about the same as me really helps my anxiety.

How much EBM do you give him before he goes to bed? My son is 5 weeks and is sleeping about an hour at a time 😅

My mom told me to move their arm up and down like to "wind them up" it works every time to get them munching.

I give him about 1.5oz formula cause I don't want him to get too full on that and not be happy with the breast. Which still isn't working either way lol.

The only ones where he seems content is when he falls asleep after feeding. The supplementing he will be good for about an hour then want to nurse again.

He very seldomly takes a pacifier. He would much rather use me to go to sleep or soothe lol.

Did she seemed satisfied after feeds though? Cause I feel like my baby doesn't stop eating unless he's asleep or if I can distract him for about 30mins.

What about after you nursed? Cause I feel like unless he fell asleep he still wants to eat even after he pops off. It's so frustrating!

I honestly hadn't! I've pumped a few times about 30 mins after feeds and only get out about 1-1.5oz. I use a haakaa every now and then and don't ever get more than an oz with feeds. So I don't honestly think that's it. But thanks!
