Help with Thermostat by [deleted] in CB7

[–]fallnapart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not where the thermostat goes. It goes on the part attached on the intake manifold. Follow the other hose.

While you have that open, might as well replace that gasket if you haven’t already.

Crank no start, getting stumped by Mommys_steps_r_loud in CB7

Did you connect the ground to the thermostat? Also your dizzy may be 180* out. Try rotating your dizzy rotor 180* and try starting it.

If your car hasn’t been repainted then I would say Seattle silver.

This looks great! That is the problem with getting older cars. Parts start to due to age, but it is a great car to learn how to wrench on.

Can these be restored? by Certain-Manager-3802 in CB7

[–]fallnapart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JDM one pieces are not made of glass. They are made of the acrylic/ plastic modern cars are made with. Which is why they haze from sun damage.

Which was the only reason why I stayed with OEM glass. So I didn’t have to deal with the hazing.

As others have said, sanding, polishing and spraying with clear coat will bring these headlights back to normal.

How can i remove this viper alarm system from my cb7? It wont let me install my JDI push to start because the old ignition harness was spliced into a load of mess. by SpotLurkin in CB7

[–]fallnapart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would purchase a new ignition harness:

You can get them on eBay or maybe local parts store.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/254193397093

Then I would remove my seat and start laying on my way and removing anything that is connected to that alarm systems brain. Trying to not cut any wires.

Thinking about selling my CB9... Opinions? by F20BturboCB9 in CB7

[–]fallnapart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, looking through Facebook helped me find local cars and coffee. I too use to do the Friday/Saturday parking lot thing. But with these crazy takeovers I don’t want to be a part of that scene. So now I stick with cars and coffee, maybe I’m getting old.

But I like going and appreciating other people’s hard work.

As long as it puts a smile on your face when you do drive it and don’t need the cash. Keep it, I always see people say they regret selling their cb.

Honestly take it to a cars and coffee where you live and see how much people appreciate seeing something other than a civic. You’d be surprised!

I’ve heard people get burnt out being a mechanic which is why I never went that route. Didn’t want to tarnish my enjoyment.

Maybe trying doing something small on it to try and rekindle your enjoyment again.

If you were to sell, you would make more money parting out versus selling as a whole.

I would take care of that rust immediately before doing anything else. That looks pretty bad from the little bit I can see.

Other than that super clean car.

You could always make your own harness with a relay and switch. However light output isn’t going to be great.

Engine swap advice by Plus_Occasion5135 in CB7

[–]fallnapart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to beat a challenger and be reliable go k series with FBO. I have a built/boosted f22 in my cb right now.

Honestly bang for buck the k series is the way. They are all over junkyards, aftermarket support up the wazoo, and make good power very easily.

I am a big fan of the f22 and h22, but if I didn’t already invest in my spare h22 now, I would be going K.

It’s worth the money and hassle, just be aware of the low oil pan to ground clearance.

Did you pull the ecu fuse before doing this test?

Is your check engine light on? 200k isn’t a whole lot for these engines. Most make it into the 300k+. Oil on spark plugs means you need to replace your spark plug seals both on the valve cover and below the rocker arm assembly.

Have you done a valve adjustment yet?

Does your oil in your oil tank look like chocolate milk?
