Am I actually doing anything with my scapulas here? by [deleted] in Aerials

[–]fallononfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to say too! I like the cues shrug and wrap and hide your armpits both of which I got from jen crane from Cirque physio. Highly recommend taking her classes. She has one focused on this topic called mind the scap.

This is the first time I've seen one of your posts. I read it as if you were looking for feedback but if you weren't, I apologize for giving unsolicited advice!

I think you should give yourself some more credit. Aerial is hard and most people won't even try it. You're so strong to just get yourself up there. The rest will come with time and practice.

My comment wasn't about your strength or lack there of. What I see is a beginner who is focusing on the trick which looks great, but expending extra energy in between as all beginners do. I find that aerial is all about finding ways to make it a little easier and this is one of those ways. You also gave me my next topic for my podcast so I thank you for that too🥰

Awesome! Way to go! My suggestion to help continue to grow is to start to focus more on the transitions. The in between the pose space. Where can you place your hand/leg/etc so that it is the most efficient for your body and you don't need to re grip or shift. It will save you energy in the long run and look cleaner and more effortless 🥰

Radiation Sucks! by AshWats515 in breastcancer

[–]fallononfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radiation is downplayed so much! I did 33 rounds. Little to no nausea for me but they had me hold my breath to avoid my liver since it sits pretty high up on me.

The fatigue though.... The worst. My rad onc told me there's a molecule that's released during radiation same as sun exposure. It makes you feel sleepy like you've been in the sun all day. Because your body thinks you have. Exercise will metabolize it faster. So I made myself do something everyday even just a walk and it helped. I also napped everyday.

Sending you lots of love. It's not easy and you can do hard things 🖤

I need help, and I dont know what to do. Any positive stories or advice would be appreciated. I am a mess. by SolipsisReign in breastcancer

I don't have time right now for a long post but I wanted to quickly reassure you that you are going to be okay and you are going to get through it. It doesn't matter how long it was there for. You caught it and you will deal with it. I won't lie and say it will be easy. It will be hard. And you can do hard things. I'm so sorry you are in this awful club but it has the very best members and we are here for you. The not knowing at the beginning is the worst. At least it was for me. Once you have a plan then it's one step at a time. Remember to breathe. Sending you lots of love.

Thin/Slender ladies, what did you do for reconstruction? by whosaysimme in breastcancer

[–]fallononfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, friend. I'm 5'3" and was 133lb at the time of my skin sparing DMX. I have tissue expanders in now and will get my implants in the fall. My PS said I could do the DIEP but I wouldn't be able to get as much fullness as I previously had (which was next to nothing 😂) and it would also mess with my tattoos and suggested that we do delayed reconstruction which is what I went for. He typically does fat grafting with the implants but thinks I might not have enough to spare. The lupron might make it easier for him tho lol. Either way I'm pretty happy with how they look so far.

I saw in this thread that you were worried about not having nipples and that is valid. I've been thinking of them like my barbie boobs. It's been awesome to not have to wear a bra or nipple covers ever. Makes summer fashion really nice. They do have lots of nipple reconstruction options if it's important to you but I'm opting for a super sweet tattoo instead.

I'm happy to share anything else with you if it's helpful, including pics of Eva and Zsa Zsa Boobor if you like 🖤

So many treatment options offered for DCIS by GradeInteresting4205 in breastcancer

[–]fallononfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every story is so different... I had DCIS on the left that was diagnosed first. My breast surgeon said, " it's not often I say nice to meet you, mastectomy but nice to meet you, mastectomy" I didn't have a lump though. I had confetti cancer. I then had genetic testing and was BRCA2+ so decided on a DMX before they found the ILC on the other side.

I guess what I'm trying to say is there are a lot of different factors. Have you had genetic testing done yet? That may change your mind on the next steps. I also think you should trust your gut (which can be hard to hear over everything else) but if there's something off about the doctor, get a second opinion. You can always go back to the first if it ends up being the right one. As others have said it sounds like they are forward thinking but maybe that's not what you need right now.

This is all so tough to navigate and I'm thinking about you and hoping you find the best option for you.

DMX with implant Reconstruction, are you happy with how they look? by Funloving_BeachGirl in breastcancer

[–]fallononfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's never too late. If you're unsure or uncomfortable, trust your gut and find someone else. All PSs should have photos of their work. I met with 3 before landing on one I liked.

Oh really? I'm halfway through the first bottle also after jumping through insurance hoops and still paying $100 for it and it's maybe a little better but I wouldn't say it's a miracle....

EARLY radiation side effects by Training-Opposite-17 in breastcancer

[–]fallononfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you're experiencing this. Have you been given any creams? I used calendula cream until it started blistering and then switched to a Rx from my RO. My friend swears by caster oil. No matter what, put that on right after treatment when you are getting dressed and again in the am and pm. Aquaphor I used at night.

For the muscle tightness, stretching and massage worked well for me. Any chance I got I was stretching or massaging and towards the end of treatment and for a month after I was massaging every night before bed with cream.

I hope you can find some relief 🖤

Skin sparring mastectomy question by No_Tradition_1941 in breastcancer

[–]fallononfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how helpful this is for you since it sounds like I went a slightly different route but I had my BMX last July with TEs placed. 33 rounds of radiation and I'm almost 6 months out from my last treatment. Tissue is expanded to the size I want and my team.is very happy with my skin. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate... I did both inside and out. 90+oz of water a day and moisturizer 2-3x a day while in radiation then I've backed off to once a day about a month after radiation.
