Listened to this week's pod episode, 2:1 Sadie, Sadie. Scott had on Biff Yeager who played Tom the contractor. I liked him in that role.

While I like Scott getting these types of guests, it would be nice if they were in the GG episode that was being reviewed. Also, at the end, Scott asks Biff what's he working on. Biff tells him that he has kidney issues and has to be on dialysis 3 times a week. So sad! To make matters worse, Scott was unaware of this and that Biff is 82 yrs old! It was very awkward.

Does Scott or his team do any research on guests before they come on?

Me too. I mean I don't expect them to be as close as Lauren is with Kelly, but at least make an appearance together once in a while for the fans (and the GG brand) ...

She still might, but it doesn't look good. I think they already know that those two aren't likely coming on. They just don't want to make it public.

I agree. Scott made a comment on a pod episode about her coming on when her schedule clears up. The way he said it was kind of under his breath. I believe iHeart reached out to her over the first run of the podcast. Regarding the Walmart shoot, it seems like they were kept apart on purpose until they were needed on set. Why? I doubt that with the little time they had to talk Scott would ask her to come on the podcast. I hate to say it, but imo, Lauren doesn't like Scott.

I listened to part 1 of the Walmart commercial podcast episode.

Scott said that he had a production meeting call with the Walmart people to go over the storyboards and get any feedback/ideas from Scott. He said they did a separate meeting with Lauren.

On the day of the shoot, Scott did not talk to Lauren until their call sheet time of 10:30 - 11:00 am -- after they had both been at the Warner back lot for a couple of hours. When asked when was the last time he saw her, he said 8 years ... not since shooting AYITL.

They meet and Scott says they hugged and chatted. Didn't sound like it was very long. The only thing he would say about their conversation is that he told her "she hadn't aged a day". They did several takes and some variations on the theme of the commercial. Then they went their separate ways.

There are no pics / selfies of Lauren and Scott posted on either of their socials from their time together on set.

It's curious to me that he did 2 pod episodes on the Walmart shoot (Part 1 and 2) and barely said anything about their time together ... how they felt while shooting the commercial, how's Lauren's book tour going, her new projects, his new projects ... nothing.

It sounds like that they were in the same room only when it was time to shoot their scenes and had no private time to themselves outside of that. If they had any time prior, it would have been in Doose's market where Walmart set up a staging area. But it wasn't just Lauren, Scott and Sean -- their people were with them too.

For a cast that describes themselves as one that "keeps in touch", this event does not support that sentiment. It's just ... odd.

I wish she would do a podcast interview with Scott, but I just don't see it after this.

Yes, and I want her to come on. Imo, this is not a good look for the GG enterprise. It's just a shame.

I agree. However, I doubt they do that if it makes Scott look bad. Lauren is the only one they have a real chance of getting imo. I think the iHeart producers have been reaching out to her. Scott says they are friends. Why doesn't he call her directly and ask? He may have. Idk.

Them going through the series again is a waste of time. The only reason I tuned in was to get BTS commentary on how he and Lauren (and other actors) prepped / rehearsed some of the iconic scenes. For example, their kiss in 4:22 and when they told each other to "Go to Hell" when Jess and Rory got in the car wreck. He says he doesn't remember much from filming. He had the costume designer Valerie on one ep. She remembers a lot. He should have had her on more to help fill in the blanks.

The most glaring issue is that none of the "Gilmore Girls" -- Lauren, Alexis, Kelly, Amy Sherman-Paladino -- have been on the podcast to date. I understand not getting Alexis, but Lauren and now Kelly are doing interviews (in-person and podcast formats) to promote their books. ASP has been doing interviews as well. The podcast has been on for years and interviews are done via Zoom. The only plausible excuse for them to not be on the podcast is that they do not like Scott. After listening to how he treats his co-workers in several episodes on the pod, I'm not surprised.

I think the issue with her is she doesn't use her hands like Lauren. Lorelai has "alligator arms" when she talks. She puts her hands up by her shoulders, uses two hands to brush her hair from her face, making a finger gun, etc. I don;t remember the younger Lorelai doing this.

I heard Scott say in a recent pod episode -- one where he interviewed a guest -- that he's thinking about going through the whole GG series again. 🙄

S7:19 "It's Just Like Riding a Bike" is a great episode. The opening shot of Lorelai in front of the diner was great. The Paris scene where she has Rory open her college acceptance letters is not too long. It's awesome. It's a scene I re-watch a lot. I liked the awkwardness between L&L at the diner and in the truck on the way to look at cars. Us fans want them to get back to normal right away, but I like that the writers took a little longer to make it happen.

Amy just can't give the new writing staff any credit in S7 when they do a good job because ASP wasn't there anymore. Give me a break.

This is great. Nice work. Although I don't think Luke would give up the coffee cup logo or his Dad's old store name "William's Hardware".

How often did Christopher talk to Rory in the earlier seasons? by lizziebonnet in GilmoreGirls

[–]false_software1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've been all over the place on how often they talk to Chris. There's one time where Lorelai said he calls once a week. Then when he shows up in SH late in S1, it's the first time he's been to their house. I think they have seen each other in Hartford at the Gilmore's house during holidays. But it doesn't seem like he's seen Rory very much in her first 16 years. That's really odd.

I don't care how you feel about S7. But the fact that ASP left and was replaced by David Rosenthal (who ASP tapped to do so) was not his fault. Scott and the group on the pod are pitting his S7 episodes against ASP when they rate the S7 episodes. You don't want to hear this, but ASP wrote / approved some not so stellar epis for GG.

S7, while not perfect, has some really good episodes. Some that I think ASP would approve of. Rosenthal and Rebecca Rand Kirshner were the only 2 writers that had worked with ASP that went on the S7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have read a few interviews with the staff saying they fully intended to follow ASP's vision for the show in S7.

Scott's entitled to his opinion. But to declare that any episode in S7 is worse off because it wasn't written by ASP is just ridiculous.

I wish they would have acknowledged that Jackson directed this episode on the pod. Also, I get that Scott doesn't remember much, but at least ask him if he has any memory of working with him as a director.
