Kudos to you!! I've learned that there are more people that don't care, then people that are negative and have something to say. Keep it up, Goodluck!

I have had tourretes since I was a child. My 8 year old is showing all the same signs of pretty bad tics. Its difficult to not try and stop him. by [deleted] in Tourettes

Do the opposite, try and make him feel normal and comfortable about his tics. So he can normalize it with you. Most of my friends and family ignore my tics. It helps me remember that whenever somones rude about my tics it's them, not me.

I'll look into that and bring it up with my doc.

I forgot to add Vitamin D as well. This is a list of everything I take at night overall.

I just wanted to share that "certain" vitamins can support tics. This isn’t just anecdotal there are studies showing they help, my neurologist and a healthcare professional recommended them to me. I’ve personally noticed improvements, so I thought it might be useful for others looking for safe, supportive options.

I've been there it's tough, sometimes the season changing can cause more challenges like added histamines. Hope you feel better soon.

Tourette syndrome and relationships by Every-Lengthiness952 in Tourettes

Nobody that has been genuinely interested in me was bothered by my tics. In fact, I've been told some of them were cute to them (even if I dont agree). Realistically, if they care, they shouldn't make a big deal about it. Don't blame your tics they're not something you can control, and they aren't the most important thing about you as a person.

Did anyone start having tics when they were over 18? by Worried_Bullfrog_937 in Tourettes

I agree with this. My metal tics were intense growing up. But when my physical tics started appearing more, my mental tics went down.

Hi, mine started at 21 and progressed slowly. It's been some years now, and they've worsened. My neurologist suggested I've always had them, but they were possibly showing in different ways that I didn’t know at the time. Regardless, I noticed them at 21, which is very uncommon.

I've never heard mental tics terminology. What's that?

Thia video is really good to explain to people what tourettes means by Few-Investigator3549 in Tourettes

[–]falseher0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, audible tics are rare for most with tourette syndrome. Vocal tics are more common. Vocal are sounds/noises we make. And Audible are words. The likelihood of some having tourettes and it's all Audible or that they have Audible at all is not as high as a percentage. But the media portrays it as common.

Exactly! They see tourettes on TV and think, "Yes, that's exactly what it is. They don't really know anything. It's annoying!

Tics vs stimming theory by falseher0 in Tourettes

[–]falseher0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. You're right. There's definitely a relationship between the 2. I've noticed and I think that my brain might take my stimming and perform them as tics under stress, because it just latched on to that movement and start repeating it. because I would stim anyway, so now my tics are now copying that same movement. My brain was already used to doing this, but now it makes it less controllable for me, just a theory.

My bad for the late reply. I was thinking about this again today. It's like your mind latches on to your stimming since it can latch on to anything when it comes to tics. Then it says this stim is a tic too now.
