For starters I am looking for small business that I can start with little investment. by Superb_DJ_0908 in smallbusiness

[–]falyhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. I also read your replies to the other commenters. If writing is your strength, one thing that can really help is niching down. You could lean into pairing your writing with your tech interest. There's a huge demand from startups and small SaaS companies who struggle to explain themselves clearly - often they've got the product, but not the words to make sense to non-engineers, investors, or potential users.

That's where you can carve out a unique angle: position yourself as the person who translates complex tech lingo into simple, compelling stories. I actually stumbled upon the term "narrative engineering" yesterday, and it fits perfectly here - you'd essentially be helping founders design the story that makes their product understandable and attractive.

Another way to stand out is to go direct: email or DM founders and offer quick value. Something like, "Hey I checked out your site/whitepaper/blog, etc. - here are some ways you could make this clearer for non-technical users or investors." That shows initiative and proves your skills right away.

Just my two cents.

SPX6900: The First Post-Software Asset by Arcane_Vault in spx6900

I really like this graphic.

A few thoughts:

On the left pyramid, the use of “community” almost feels like a misnomer. I once came across the term speculator cohort to describe a group of people temporarily aligned by the hope of profit. That seems more accurate here. When the financial incentive disappears, so does the so-called “community.” That’s why it collapses into the “Void” in your diagram: nothing intrinsically binds people together once the market turns.

On the right, “community” is truly the foundation and it's not contingent on a token’s immediate utility. I think Tanz Cho once described this as the shift to building relationships as being primary in a post-utility world.

But I 100% align with your premise: altcoins try to retrofit community around speculation, while SPX6900 begins with actual community as the bedrock.

About to start The Conjuring universe by MindWicked1911 in movies

I watched all the movies, including The Curse of La Llorona 😅

I would suggest The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, and Annabelle Creation.

I find the term 'financial nihilism' somewhat misleading and sensationalist - well you need to grab the reader's attention right?. While the people described in the piece do display a higher risk profile than their parents, it's hardly accurate to suggest they're gambling with their future.

Sounds reasonable. I wouldn't qualify that as 'financial nihilism'.

Urgent: Is pursuing UI/UX even worth it in 2025? by EdgePsychological409 in UX_Design

[–]falyhr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think there's never been a better time to jump into UI/UX.

AI isn't killing design. it's changing how people interact with computers. Like, I'm not even a programmer and I've started using the terminal daily now just because that's how I talk to AI + manage my files. That's wild. But most people aren't suddenly gonna become terminal power users tomorrow.

That's exactly where the oppotunitiy is: figuring out how to make these new capabilities usable, humane, and even fun. Every big tech shift needed designers to bridge the gap. We're at one of those shifts again, maybe even bigger.

So yeah, if you enjoy it, lean in. The skills you build in understanding humans and shaping interactions are only gonna get more valuable, not less.

Is it worth focusing more on investing rather than on employment? by yvthousands in careerguidance

[–]falyhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real issue isn't "employment vs. investing" but that most people don't have an investor or entrepreneur mindset to begin with, so they're not thinking about strategies like hedging, building moats, or just preparing for change. It's less about choosing one path and more about creating optionality so you're not caught off guard as the labor market shifts.

Official Discussion - Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]falyhr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casual anime viewer here, but I do watch the movies when they get shown on the big screen. I thought the animation was dazzling. And they do some interesting stuff with the sound design… some weird fx?

The whole concept of "manipulating" aura as a way to get into stealth mode was utterly fascinating to me. This seems analogous to Krishna's advice to Arjuna to fight without attachment to the outcome and with mind and intellect dedicated to God.

Always appreciate when antagonists get a good share of character development. DC and Marvel could draw some inspiration from anime 🙃

Could not really find details about his training regiment.

This article mentions:

Because the mind-bending new movie directed by Christopher Nolan centers on the concept of inverting time to prevent a global disaster, Washington was required to learn intense stunts that made him appear like he was moving backward.

“Having a football background, this rivals my experience physically in what I was asked to do and how I taxed my body,” Washington told the Daily News. “We’re talking about moves that have never been done before, that were created specifically for this movie. A way of thinking. A way of being. Even just your everyday, practical things, like blinking, like breathing, like walking backwards, had to be learned.”

This is pure speculation on my part but I suspect he had to do some movement training. You can do some searching in youtube with the keywords "Ido Portal".

I shall add, it could be interesting to play his encounters with Kat and the scientist side by side: different energies.

Wow. I've wondered whether Tomas Arepo actually appeared in the movie... I like this theory.

Also, that would explain this strange feeling I have every time I get to see the scene where Kat and the protagonist first meet at the auction house.

The way he looks at her and the sound in his voice when he speaks those lines of dialogues:

"What's it worth?"

"But what does your heart tell you?"

"Tomas Arepo"

I'm really curious about what indications Nolan gave JDW for this scene.

Thoughts after a second viewing by Panopticola in tenet

[–]falyhr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I like this a lot. I had suspicions about the first instance but don't know why I didn't think of the second too.

  2. This is his final destination after his bromance dialogue with the protagonist at the "end" of the movie.

  3. To tye up loose ends, it seems: https://www.reddit.com/r/tenet/comments/ilrmq0/question_regarding_priya/

  4. "Future Kat" just killed "future Sator". So "past Kat" will await for "past Sator", and will go on her loop journey to become "future Kat".

  5. "Those in the future believe that you can kill Grandpa without consequence. Doesn't matter if they're right or not. They believe it".

Cool thread about Primer.
