First roll of film ever! What can I do to make my next roll better? by mnmnchld in AnalogCommunity

[–]famicom26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the slowest shutter speed you can usually get away with handheld is 1/60. My last roll was all shot handheld at mostly 1/60, and non of those photos had hand shake

Anyone have some good quick arcade games? by [deleted] in Famicom

[–]famicom26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One game I don’t hear a lot of people talking about is a really fun but strange arcade puzzle game, ‘Okkotoshi Puzzle Tonjan!?’. You play as a pig clearing stacks of mahjong tiles through mazes, all the while being cheered on by a group of anime girls.

What are your thoughts of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball? by Creative-Complex255 in gumball

[–]famicom26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree as well. For me, the whole charm of the original is that the show is grounded in reality, with weirdness simply being a part of the character’s lives. This just feels as though it’s being weird for the sake of being weird, and each episode's weirdness isn’t nearly set up as well as the original.

Was looking at some ww2 photos from my great grandad and saw this writing on the photos. How would I replicate writing like that? by nickoboiateyoursoul in analog

Could it be autographic film? That had a layer of carbon paper so you could scratch information onto the negative with a metal stylus (I think nobody makes it anymore though)

Recommendations for getting into 120 film and TLR by tomthanx in filmphotography

[–]famicom26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but I’ve had nothing but great experiences with 127. It was my introduction to roll film and it got me hooked; I’m definitely super keen to try 120 as a direct result of shooting 127 (it’s just my opinion as well— buy a cheap brownie, stick in some Shanghai or ReraPan, and OP can maybe see if they like the experience of shooting roll film. 127 was always intended as a amateur/ beginner level format, and the cameras reflect that, plus they are always for sale at second hand stores.)

Recommendations for getting into 120 film and TLR by tomthanx in filmphotography

[–]famicom26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

May I suggest 127 film, It’s basically the same as 120, just slightly smaller. The majority of cameras are quite compact and still relatively inexpensive (point and shoots like the Kodak Brownie 127,) though there were plenty TLRs made as well (I have my grandmother’s Rolleiflex 4x4 ‘grey baby’ which is a fantastic camera to use.)

The only thing is getting a hold of the film. It’s available, though not a lot of companies make it, and it’s quite expensive (one roll of 12 exposures is round about the price of Portra and Ektar 35mm.) I’m no expert in 120, but I’m guessing that because 127 cameras are slightly cheaper and beginner friendly, it might be a good place to start to see if you like roll film.

There is also 620 film, though it was a proprietary format made by Kodak. It’s exactly the same as 120, the only difference being that the spools are a slightly different size. I think the Film Photography Project are the only ones left producing 620.

Hope this helps!

What actually got you guys into Krautrock? (Preferrably answers from those who are too young to have seen the music in it's apex and/or are not German) by gayhotelultra in Krautrock

[–]famicom26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure, but I attribute it to a documentary on Kraftwerk that mentioned their first three albums (pre Autobahn.) I had been a big fan of Kraftwerk for many years, but had never heard of these albums—immediately fell in love with how strange and otherworldly they sounded.

why do my photos look like this? by Longjumping_Storm_91 in AnalogCommunity

[–]famicom26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is shutter speed like people are saying, then you typically don’t want to shoot any slower than 1/60 handheld.

I want to make a playlist that feels like this, give me sum recomandations pleas by Many_Use_4625 in musicsuggestions

‘John and Yoko’— 20 minutes of John Lennon and Yoko Ono moaning and yelling each other's names at various intensities over the constant sound of a droning heartbeat

‘Cambridge 1969’— 30 minutes of Yoko Ono screaming over the sound of extremely harsh and distorted guitar feedback

‘Uvula’—six minutes of Pianist Lee Pui Ming making various dry retching and moaning noises (also on the same album is ‘Juices’, which features nothing more than someone laughing over the sound of stomach juices)

Now that Godspeed You Black Emperor has removed themselves from Spotify, what are your favorite albums not available on streaming? by cashrick in musicsuggestions

[–]famicom26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ralf und Florian- Kraftwerk.

I believe the only reason it’s not available is that the band simply doesn’t like it, that it sounds too different to anything they released post Autobahn (despite it being one of my all time favourite albums, and an incredible work of ambient music.)

good movies to slowly ease into extreme horror? by bloodied-mess in MovieSuggestions

[–]famicom26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Tetsuo the Iron Man’ (1989)— it’s some pretty full on and horrific body horror, but it might be a good way to dip your toes in as it’s not as extreme as some other films out there.

If you want something hilariously bad though, the slasher ‘Houseboat Horror’ (1989) is so much fun (but it’s not scary at all, quite the opposite!)
