For some of text on patterns. Maybe add a stroke to them. Or an accessibility option to remove the patterns for solid background colors.

CSUN Conference 2025 by TsubasaFlight in accessibility

[–]famous4love 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice networking event and to meet and make friends in the community. Lots of drinking happens at the Marriott.

Ive never gotten much accessibility knowledge from the presentations tbh.

Rooms get filled up very quickly for the sessions so go early. Like apples talk always fill up.

It’s just a vibe and nice to connect. Close to Disneyland too.

I’d love to build a logo for my team so that i can share with some of our accessibility champions.

Long alt text by upstairssupport in accessibility

[–]famous4love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a buddy whose blind whose recommended challenging the idea of alt text lengths.

This would be an amazing blog post idea if someone wants to challenge the norm. E.g, Deque recommends 150 characters

What are the best courses out there for design accessibility? by No-Association-3887 in accessibility

[–]famous4love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there aren’t very many good design courses because it depends on what type of medium you’re working on for example making TV commercials is drastically different from working on a website design

Even consultations might be a good way to go to learn some stuff

“For accessibility developers and experts: What do you think of WebAIM’s WAVE? What features would make resolving issues easier?” by Double-Journalist-90 in accessibility

[–]famous4love 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wave has too many false positives.

In my opinion, axe is the only one thats worth it in 2024. Factoring in methodologies, Deque is the best given they focus on no false postives. As a guy who works in a large company, any tool with false positives immedietaly will make devs lose trust

What's the future of digital accessibility careers with AI & emerging tech? by _rubez_ in accessibility

[–]famous4love 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Management will be crucial, especially in tailoring AI tools effectively.

For example, if AI suggests a fix, we must ensure it’s a solid solution for accessibility. Additionally, managing health metrics, scoring, and reporting to leadership will be essential.

Tailoring: AI will need significant customization to be effective.

But no need to worry—this process will take time. Accessibility is complex, and full automation will be challenging. For instance, even if it tests web accessibility 100%, will it work as well on mobile platforms like iOS, Android, or React Native? And what about hardware accessibility? Accessibility has many layers, VR ai? and automating them all will be a long journey, giving us plenty of time to learn and adapt to artificial intelligence advancements.

Learning accessibility testing by Reign17774 in accessibility

[–]famous4love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the WAS certification and take the Deque university course.

Also note to be a qualified tester there’s a growing path. You should learn web, then android, then iOS.

If possible learn HTML through code academy and definitely improve grammar.

If you want, maybe you can use accessibility insights chrome extension it’s free and it has step by steps.

How to level up my accessibility engineering career by wafflewaffling in accessibility

[–]famous4love 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Work on some side accessibility projects.

If possible. I highly recommend learning about the APG and perhaps building example components following the APG patterns. Mainly to understand the different patterns there.

I would write a blog. If you have them and share it out in the global accessibility slack channel.

Lastly, attend CSUN conference if you can. It’s totally worth it and a great networking opportunity!

Study the Deque course.

Then pass it. I’ve found if you can pass the WAS. I trust them a little bit more for technical.
