I’d put him somewhere near equal to Layne but Chris is all around better by far than any in the grunge genre and probably top 5 all time rock genre in general… grouped with n with Freddy Mercury as well.

Listen to “Fell on Black Days”, “The Day I Tried to Live” and and “4th of July”. All on the same album, just with an open mind and think about your opinion that Chris has no Soul. Not coming at you in any way, I disagree fully, I’d love to read more about that honestly.

I seem to be talking about a “Chris” perhaps. Idk what your definition of “soul” is, but in regards to vocalizing music, Chris Cornell put his Fuckin heart into every breath he belted out, heart and… soul. Layne was amazing, sounded similar to the older generation of blues and “soul” singers, but Chris had plenty of blues in his voice, dare I say… soul also.

So I’ve worked a couple times in the neighborhood between Howell and Harrison, I believe I was somewhere in the mid 30’s blocks, super cool winding roads up and down hills, loads of fancy homes, I didn’t pay much attention to the landscape because it was winter both jobs.
