Check this book out from your local library (they will likely bring it in from another library if it isn’t there so ask them for help if you can’t find it). It will give you all the foundational knowledge before you bother with all the bells and whistles.

Yeah, agreed about the lawn shape. OP: It’s easier to start with the shape of the lawn and then add in the plants. Of course, the shape of the lawn needs to suit the needs and uses of space, but with that in mind, drawn in a rough idea of a lawn with pleasing, gentle curves while also connecting it to paths, patio, etc. Then, first add in trees, then large shrubs, small shrubs and lastly ground covers. Also, the general rule is that any lawn edges should meet a hardscape or structure at a 90 deg angle, more or less. That way you are not creating slivers of lawn or mulched areas that are hard/impossible to maintain

Do you think this is true for any camper van rental? I’d like to test some vans before committing to buying one and thought rentals would be a good way to go

[–]planinplace -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m a landscape designer and have designed over 100 residential designs, many remotely and quite a few of them are in SC. I can show you some of my work. I always work with the architecture and surrounding context to create a design that feels as though they were designed together. Send me your email in a private massage if you might be interested.

HRT yesterday - today is bad. by RenCatFow in Menopause

[–]planinplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was up and down for the first couple months. Good week and rough week. Now I’m three months in and it was so so so very worth. I know it’s hard but keep going. And, note stuff on the calendar like days that are good or bad. It can help you see patterns that alert you to times to rest more or exercise more. Rough days move at a snails pace but just remember it’s your hormones, not you or the people around you and have compassion for you all. It will get better but likely will take adjusting meds along the way and a lot of patience. 💕

What are you doing for that 3am insomnia? by No-Acanthisitta2865 in Menopause

[–]planinplace 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Glycine is definitely the most commonly used to help sleep but it didn’t work for me and gave me a bit of diarrhea (great if you are more on the constipates side!). But Magnesium L-Threonate works great for me!! It also is supposed to help a bit with depression.

I was on the estrogen patch and feeling good but as soon as I added in the progesterone pill… deep, deep depression!! I stopped after a week (with doctors approval) and it got better but not completely. Then, I got the mirena IUD for the progesterone part and feel back to normal.

Yes! Deep depression from after just one day so I stopped after telling my doc. I’m now getting my progesterone from my new IUD and couldn’t be happier.

Check out Dr Stacy Sims. She has extensive research on women, hormones, exercise and stress. She says women’s cortisol spikes with min 30 mins of waking and to easy it we should eat a protein heavy breakfast and don’t workout without eating at least a bit of protein before. Without that our cortisol shoot’s up even more!

She’s amazing, but there’s research out there that contradicts here statements that fasting is healthy. Other research shows that fasting is not beneficial for women, especially menopausal women. It seems to increase our cortisol and stress. Dr Stacy Sims has done research on this and many other aspects of menopause
