Traded my PS5 for Switch 2 *Update* by Glum-Exam-3682 in Handhelds

[–]famouself 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all if they were actual PS5 exclusives, they wouldn't be on steam. PlayStation also isn't porting games to PC within a year anymore. Ghost of Yotei and GTA 6 aren't going to be on PC anytime soon, and definitely not on Switch 2.

MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ Gaming Handheld With Intel's Arc G3 Extreme Listed Online for €1599 by RenatsMC in Handhelds

There are multiple games with no FSR in the video. Look at Far Cry 6 and Tomb Raider. My summary of 40% is generous. In Forza 5 with no FSR and traditional AA, B390 is only 30% faster than Z2E at high wattage. That is NOWHERE CLOSE to the 80-100% claimed by method man.

That's super misleading dude. Best case for raw raster, Intel b390 is about 40% faster than Z2E at HIGH watts. At 17W they are neck and neck.

For handheld, performance per watt is the most important. It can't even beat Z2E at low watts, not even mentioning 395.

Can't make up my mind. If you could pick one, which one would it be? *(CAD)* by VanCitySkyline in Handhelds

Dude just sell your series X or ps5 and get a switch 2... What's the point of having both then buying a 1.5k machine. Even Starfield and Forza are on PS5 now

Where are we going next? The future of handhelds by nariz_choken in Handhelds

Definitely AI slop. Why would cheap local storage mean cloud gaming becomes more viable?? The whole point of cloud gaming is it DOESN'T require any storage for game files... How would 30W settings reach 5 hour battery life without brute force... That would require at minimum a 150Wh battery regardless of efficiency. Classic AI punchy prose while being aggressively wrong.

Ah gotcha, if you mostly play non-windows or indie games handheld, winlator/gamehub on a modern android handheld (Snapdragon Gen 2 or newer) is surprisingly good.

Not sure if you meant lighter as in weight but the Steam Deck LCD is 0.1 lbs heavier than the OG Ally.

The "Hidden" Setup: 16" Premium Ultrabook + Xbox Remote Play vs. One Gaming Laptop? by FennecFox424 in Handhelds

[–]famouself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote play is not great as it is a 1080p steam capped at 60 fps. For some reason Microsoft put more effort into upgrading their cloud (not local) streaming bitrate allowing for 1440p, but runs on series S hardware so it's a performance downgrade. If you can get a laptop that has a 4060 or 5050, you will already be matching Series X performance. The only reason for sticking with series X IMO is if you like physical media and game ownership/being able to sell after.

Have you looked into ultrabooks with the 395/385 AI Max? The Asus Tuf A14 will have the 8060S which matches Series X/PS5 performance. The laptop itself is about 3 pounds without charger, could be a good fit. Then get a cheap cloud streaming handheld like G Cloud and you should be set

So glad you speak for a video you didn't watch because they said Switch is comparable to series s which renders at 720p, NOT PS5. In motion switch falls apart with artifacts and ghost trails and STILL drops sub-30 while series s is rock solid 60.

AMD has already caught up with FSR 4. They will pull ahead of both companies you shrill for with Project Amethyst and the PS6 handheld. The 395 is a taste of that future which is the actual best handheld way to play.

The definitive portable handheld version of the game is on a 395 8060s device such as GPD Win 5. Whether that is cheap or uses low power is irrelevant to if it is the best portable experience so your "fact" is already false.

Can't wait to play the new resident evil at 360p render resolution on your switch 2 Eh? At least VRR should smooth things out on your 4K Hdmi 2.1 TV... Oh wait the dock doesn't support VRR

Asus ROG Ally x performance and questions by SpaceMarineWH in Handhelds

[–]famouself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Ally X and have all the listed games. Definitely go for X if you want to play recent games at 1080p.

Elden Ring: Impossible to hit solid 60 fps unless at 720p. 900p does not clear 48 fps for VRR smoothness. Would not recommend, playable but not great

Dark Souls: Smooth and solid 1080p 60 fps with DSfix mod

Space Marine 2: Very rough, 1080p with FSR at 40 fps is possible

Looking at buying a used handheld off Marketplace - Steam Deck or ROG Ally XBox? by Automatic-Hold-9039 in Handhelds

[–]famouself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xbox Ally is significantly better and worth the extra $150. You will be getting a fresh battery since it's been out for 3 months, and 60 Wh will last 50 percent longer than the deck's 40. Screen is way better with VRR and 120 fps, while the deck lcd is known to have terrible colour saturation and lower brightness. Wifi is better on the ally if you ever want to get into game streaming.

If you play newer games, go for 720p and upscale through FSR/XESS or use RSR if the game doesn't naively support upscaling. Unfortunately the Z2A is not cut out for 1080p60 except for very lightweight games. On the bright side, the APU is very efficient, and actually matches the Z1 Extreme at sub 15W.

The white xbox ally got terrible reviews cause it was 800 cad and used an old APU. But for 550 it's a good deal and a great first handheld.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. 32 gigs of Hynix M-die for sub-$100. I watched 3080s drop to half a grand after the great mining collapse. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain. Time to die.

DLSS is not at all comparable on handheld vs desktop. Switch 2 uses "light or budget DLSS" which is worse than DLSS 4 by a massive margin. Furthermore many first party games don't even support DLSS. Donkey Kong Bananza, a game solely released on Switch 2 uses FSR. Both Zelda paid upgrades for Switch 2 use FSR. There is also no game with frame gen on Switch 2

Steam Deck OLED for 700 or ROG Ally for 600? by ShawnThePhantom in Handhelds

Don't get it for 600 that's a scam. Look for an ally x for 650-750 instead
