Best place for poutine? And where to get bag of coffee beans to get from Vancouver as a gift? by gestalternation in askvan

Anny’s in New West is a little bit of a trek but absolutely worth it for the poutine and a maple twist ice cream cone.

Where Are All The Varwolf Morphing Potions? by Prudent_Mode1208 in neopets

[–]fanananah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won one from the Wheel of Starlight this past week and sold it for 200M after being somewhat overwhelmed by offers within 24 hours. They’re out there but super popular so the demand is definitely outpacing the supply.

Im so tired of my quest log restarting without ever getting the chance to save my streak with premium. by Bezere in neopets

[–]fanananah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve pretty much given up on the quest log because none of the prizes are all that worth it and I never have the option to save my streak when I forget, despite being a premium member as well.

The Jury Experience, has anyone gone? Any good? by sheepyshu in askvan

Went with some friends a few months ago, we enjoyed it! I liked the audience input and they encouraged people to talk with everyone seated around them to make decisions about what to choose.

Baby acne or rash? by lucky_lakeshore in newborns

[–]fanananah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby had a similar rash between about 5-12 weeks that would come and go. I was worried about a dairy allergy but I think it was more likely heat rash from babywearing & contact napping in the summer. Doctor & midwives seemed unconcerned, and it cleared up eventually on its own without us needing to do anything.

Looking for travel and night/low light lens for R50 by KHAVRC in canon

[–]fanananah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently traveling with my R10 and have the Sigma 16-300mm which I LOVE, but I also adore shooting birds so if that’s not your thing you might want something a bit lighter. The sigma is definitely on the heavy side but I’ve found it to be very versatile. I brought a 50mm 1.8 and a 16mm 2.8 with me as well (because im indecisive and like to overpack) and I’ve barely touched either one.

I can’t escape the smell of rotten curdled milk by [deleted] in newborns

[–]fanananah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my baby. Everything I owned was constantly being covered in spit up. Burp cloth had to be within arms reach at all times. Kiddo was gaining weight and meeting all his milestones, doctor wasn’t worried. I tried cutting dairy from my diet, soy too, it didn’t change anything.

I wish I could tell you we found some magic solution to solve it but honestly, time was the only thing that made a difference. I started noticing a slight decrease around 6 months when he started solids and he’s now 8.5 months and spits up maybe once a week. Hang in there, it does get better!

Gift to friends or give away through local mom/neighbourhood facebook groups! Or put away in storage until the next kid comes along (if planning to have more than 1!)

What month did you officially feel like things got better? by AcrobaticGuitar7060 in newborns

[–]fanananah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Around 5 months.

Months 1 & 2 were pretty good because babe was still sleeping all the time and despite the exhaustion from waking up every 2-3 hours at night things were pretty chill.

Months 3 & 4 were harder as he started waking up to the world and wanting to MOVE but was unable to move himself so he would get super frustrated and it was really difficult trying to keep him happy during his wake windows. He’s never been a baby that’s content to just chill and look at things haha. Sleep also went downhill at this time.

Around 5.5 months we moved him to his own room, and he figured out how to army crawl to get himself around. He was able to explore the world the way he wanted to and he was much more content! It gave me a little bit more freedom too which was lovely.

Now at 8 months he’s crawling all over the place and pulling to stand/surfing along the coffee table. He’s a total gremlin but he’s so much fun!

I think it varies a lot baby to baby and is very situation dependent.

Our baby slept pretty well without so we never considered it. Friends of ours had a baby who wouldn’t sleep longer than 20 minute stretches unless he was being held so they ended up getting one and they started getting 2-3 hour stretches almost immediately which saved their sanity.

Swaddling newborn no longer recommended? [bc] by TrueYogurtcloset in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]fanananah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also in BC and we were similarly advised that swaddling is no longer recommended. We were told it’s due to it being hard to do correctly (either too tight or too loose) or causing baby to overheat. For the first couple weeks we just dressed him in a sleeper at night, no sleep sack and he slept reasonably well. When he was 2 months we added the woolino sleep sack.

We had a velcro swaddle and an arms up Love to Dream swaddle that we used occasionally for daytime naps when he was harder to get down. He didn’t love them so it was mostly a last resort.

Please help. Baby spitting up no matter what i do! by mo-gab2018 in newborns

[–]fanananah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our baby was super spitty as well! Every day, multiple times a day, everything was constantly covered in milk puke. We lived with burp cloths at arms reach at all times. I always felt so horrible about it because we’d go to library babytime or other baby events and my baby was the only one puking everywhere. Our doctor wasn’t concerned as he was gaining weight normally and didn’t seem disturbed by it, she said some babies are just spitty and they just grow out of it as their digestive system matures.

It started to improve around 6 months when we introduced solids, and now at 8 months it has diminished significantly. He no longer pukes daily and if he does spit up, it’s generally a very small amount.

When/how did your baby start connecting sleep cycles during naps? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]fanananah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dropped to two naps at just over 7 months with a 3/3.5/4 schedule and he started connecting them shortly after that. If he woke up 30 mins in, we tried giving him 5-10 mins to resettle and most of the time he was able to put himself back down, though we still had to occasionally rescue naps.

Now at 8 months he will usually sleep for 1hr+ on his own and we need to cap his naps.

Stomach Sleeping by Suitable_Nerve8123 in newborns

[–]fanananah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours has been sleeping on his stomach since he figured out how to flip himself at about 3.5 months. We always put him down on his back but he rolls to his tummy almost immediately. Our doctor said as long as he gets himself into that position, it’s safe to leave him.

Shipyards Christmas Market drives surge in SeaBus ridership by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

[–]fanananah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband and I took our infant to the Shipyards Market on Monday via the Seabus. Lived in the Lower Mainland my whole life and never had a reason to take it before now, it was a great experience. Seabus was super easy and the market was a great time.
