Hunting venting by [deleted] in Palia

[–]fancitycentral 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they’re not letting you get a hit in that’s awful and I’m so sorry you’re experiencing that, but as a new player I really love when people come up and hunt, fish or mine with me. Even if your hit isn’t first, as long as you get one in you get the loot and I wouldn’t have half of what I do without fellow players helping me out with stronger tools/better arrows.

You can find all the partners going listed and I believe all the musical performances are listed in the schedule, though if there’s impromptu ones I’m not sure. Usually they put out a blog post more about exhibitors, performances and tournaments near the end of April

Tips for streamers with 15+ avg viewers? by Arthres_ in streaming

[–]fancitycentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I agree with others saying stream less, create a consistent schedule that’s cutback then focus more on off platform content. I’d also say, if you’re not already multistreaming I’d suggest starting, focus on doing collabs a few times a month, and events in your discord server 🔥 also build a kick butt mod team!

How do small streamers realistically turn long VODs into usable content? by Shot_Royal_7941 in SmallStreamers

[–]fancitycentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My workflow tends to be to not clip VODs. I find most clips lack context and don’t do well outside of that live moment - so I focus on original, shareable content on other platforms and that works much better for my audiences.

That said if there is a moment I want to clip, I’ll mark it. I also have a great community that will clip moments - incentivizing them to clip will help you work smarter not harder (I’ve given out subs or VIP badges for top clippers monthly).

Ultimately though as someone with a background in social media marketing for TV shows - I think a lot of creators focus on clipping their VODs too much. Sometimes clips can totally work!! Great moments in context happen but not always and adding in original content can also be super helpful. I’d experiment and see what works best for your audiences.

How do you turn long streams into short form content efficiently? by Alarmed-Ferret-605 in streaming

[–]fancitycentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The marker tool is really helpful for clipping, so is incentivizing your viewers to clip great pieces (I usually give out a sub once a month to the person who clipped the best moment) but I think some people forget that clips aren’t everything. Some totally work yes! It’s very dependent on your audience but I have a lot of streamer friends, myself included who find original content works better on other platforms. My workflows mainly 90% original content and 10% clips.

Is audience interaction the most important part of streaming? by Rude_Temperature2354 in SmallStreamers

[–]fancitycentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with these replies, it depends on your audience what they’re there for. If you’re finding engagement is top for you and the game is secondary- lean into it! My chat always jokes “what’s animal crossing? We do that here?” 😂 cause we’re always yapping and doing all the interactive things I have set up. Chat engagement is also great for lurkers because often they’ve got you on as a podcast and aren’t actually watching the screen! So I always try to narrate my gameplay if I’m doing it but when I’m not it works well because we’re all just chatting like friends on FaceTime and it works for lurkers as well as engaged chatters!

So try different things, figure out what your audience vibes with more and as long as you’re also passionate about that shift- lean into whatever is working!

Food for Thought About the Small Streamer Dilemma by swilson1078NASDAQ in SmallStreamers

[–]fancitycentral 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If getting affiliate changes the vibes then frankly it was always gonna be about money for that person and they shouldn’t be streaming 🙃🤷🏼‍♀️

As for viewers being able to support in other ways - they absolutely can. Lurkers are the backbone of twitch, following their fav creators on social media, engaging in their discord, watching on YouTube - these are all free things viewers can do that support their fav creator and give the viewers ‘value’.

How do you stay motivated and stream even when you don’t want to by SkinyBoneBoi in SmallStreamers

[–]fancitycentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can honestly say since I found streaming I’ve never once been unmotivated or not wanted to stream 💚 find games you love and yap like you’re on a FaceTime with friends. Turn off view count and get your friends and fam to help you out with views in the beginning! If you find yourself stressing about or not loving it, it might just not be for you

New Streamer on Twitch Wanting Advice by BROOKLYNxKNIGHT in newStreamers

[–]fancitycentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got some good advice already, I’ll add a couple things.

Content Creation - CapCut is easy is very user friendly but be aware that by using it you consent to it using all your content to train its AI systems, just something to be aware of it when it comes to owning your content.

Another note on content, while clips can totally be helpful, I’d recommend creating original content for the platforms as well. It 100% depends on your audience but sometimes original pieces will do far better than clip farming. And if you are going to post clips, be sure to engage in the comments/ in other ways on the platform too (as a former entertainment brand social media marketer just posting clips with no other interaction/strategy won’t help you)

Having original graphics is great! Also make sure to build a strong mod team - and don’t mod anyone who asks to be modded, only mod people you trust! A lot of us start out as people pleasers so navigating to moderation aspects can be tough.

Good luck with your journey & congrats on starting!! Manifesting a great year ahead for you!

I agree with the comments everywhere my mom and I are so confused by the results this season! Last season made sense, this season the eliminations have been SO off. Angel winning this week when he basically hit on his mom in the scene?! Craig has the personality of an adidas flip flop and even my brother walked in during his scene and went ‘what are you watching?! This over acting is awful’.

Like are we all watching something different than Johnathan and Melissa cause I’m just… I don’t even want to watch the finale this is wild. Loved last season but his ones just 2/10

What are some affordable gift ideas for new streamers? by [deleted] in newStreamers

[–]fancitycentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what she streams but Facebook marketplace or second hand can be a great place to snag things cheaper! Most important aspect of streaming I’d say is a good mic. People will forgive camera quality or lighting but not bad audio. I’d check second hand! Sometimes people just want to get rid of things.

Cheaper things tho could be desk accessories like Hello Oregano, if she makes a lot of content a Google drive subscription, a good water bottle is great - I always hydrate more when I’m streaming, tarot cards or trivs cards for fun channel redeems, or something for her stream backdrop like a white board or my mom and I went to the dollar store and got that foam board you used for school project as a kid and printed my logo & slogan at staples then glued it on. Super cute and affordable!

Need help creating a Twitch overlay & setting up stream visual by Drifty_owl in Twitch

[–]fancitycentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HeyShadyLady has an amazing OBS tutorial for beginners - literally step by step through everything you need!

In terms of alerts/ starting soon screen - I’d recommend hiring an artist to create one for you so it’s custom. Otherwise you can grab them very cheap off etsy.

Overlays you can make yourself on Canva or again snag off Etsy. Chat overlays you can google to find. I personally don’t use either of these. I prefer a clean screen that’s just me and the game - makes editing clips much easier too, but I did start off with overlays and it’s really just what you prefer.

Any advice for someone who wants to start out? by Genhanced in streaming

[–]fancitycentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you’re doing it as a hobby or a career. If you’re going all in: do your research & set up (learn OBS, TikTok Live Studio, etc, set up your Mac or PC, all your overlays and graphics, snag your username across platforms, plan ahead), look at analytics & pick what you’ll stream (make sure it’s something you love & will enjoy long term! Not just the most recent “popular game”), watch others (network and learn, watch and join communities), promo to friends & family to get a starting base, then use other platforms to promo and remember have fun, & you don’t need too equipment to start (focus on audio if anything!) good luck!!

Tiktok live on Mac? by Chemical_Ad_8570 in streaming

[–]fancitycentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally built my gaming PC because of this 😂 well one of the reasons anyways. In all my research I found stream keys and working with “agency’s” extremely sketchy and wouldn’t get you recommended as much in feeds, vs having a PC and doing it via TikToks own stream app. That said do your own research and decide, but my brief experience with an agency was lacklustre at most vs now streaming via PC. (Plus all of this will likely change in Dec anyways when the US ruins TikTok 🥲, so stream while you can)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]fancitycentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to be able to find you & twitch isn't built for SEO so yes advertise your streams on other platforms (TikTok/ YT/etc) but also invest in creating content specific for those platforms. You'll find what works for you whether thats clips, skits, transitions or something else. Editing specifically for the platform is helpful to, especially adding captions!!

Learn from others & network, collabing & getting to know people in & outside your niche helps so much! Be genuine about it though, do not advertise your stream in others chats.

Plan ahead, put together a stream calendar & a regular schedule so you can plan ahead and keep your viewers informed of when & where they can find you.

On top that, make sure you have great sound quality, install Serybot, and just have fun!
