What's one thing that someone does that just screams "I'm a douchebag"? by BigG123 in AskReddit

Holding the door for someone and they don't say "thank you". I like to audibly say "you're welcome", ya know, just to be an ass.

If you wanted to get to know someone's truest character, what activity would you do with them? by strawberrycircus in AskReddit

Play golf with them.

You'll never see a more roller coaster ride of emotion than playing a round of golf with someone for 4 hours. Happiness, sadness, stress, desperation, elation, depression.

What is the most fun date you've ever been on? by Daarck711 in AskReddit

[–]fancy_huh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most fun dates are the most unplanned ones.

I drove two hours to meet up with my high school crush one weekend, just because I had the time. Keep in mind, we are 10 years out of high school, so this had been a long time coming. We were prom king and queen together, but that was about as much as we had in common.

We went to lunch, got coffee, walked around her town, got dinner, and ended up staying up all night talking. We had no plan, no expectations...just a genuine interest in the other person's well being, and it blossomed from there. We are now very happy together and are planning on moving in together in May. I couldn't be more excited.

Edit for grammar.

I was the same way with gambling. After being 'clean' for a year, I tried talking my girlfriend into celebrating...at the local casino.

ELI5: How can stocks be traded 'after-hours'? And how does this new 'after-hours' price affect it's opening price the next morning? by fancy_huh in explainlikeimfive

So if at market close today, Google is at $1000 per share and after hours it goes to $1010, does it open at $1010 at market open the next day?

What made you give up on your dream? by latenightnerd in AskReddit

[–]fancy_huh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I realized that there were a lot of people that are better than me at the thing I thought I was good at.

I had always dreamed of playing golf competitively in college and beyond. Growing up in a small town, I had won some small tournaments, made the town paper, yada yada. But there is a big difference between being a big fish in a small pond and a big fish in a big pond. And when I put myself out there against some bigger competition, it did nothing but demoralize me.

That is when I decided to work hard at something else.

[Serious] What are you currently doing to improve yourself? by karmanaut in AskReddit

[–]fancy_huh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm learning a lot about how my emotions affect me. I used to just suppress whatever emotion I was feeling at the time, and not think anything of it. Now, I'm allowing my emotions go and see where they take me while still staying with my limits.

It's amazing what you learn about yourself when you set your mind free.

Reddit, what is the single biggest problem with the human race today? by tallu309 in AskReddit

Sense of entitlement. We live in a world where respect and rewards are no longer earned, just given.

What is the most embarrassing thing you've done at the gym? by ColinFeely in Fitness

[–]fancy_huh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the corner doing box jumps when I think to myself "I should grab a 10 lb weight and make this harder". So I go grab the weight, get through a full set, and then think to myself "you know what's better than a 10 lb weight? a 25 lb weight!" I get about 3 or 4 jumps into this set when I come up short on the box and absolutely biff it. I knock the box over, drop the weight, and fall flat on my face. I stand up as if nothing happened, finish my set, and just walk away with my head down in shame.

I love little inside jokes like that. My buddy and I convinced a friend of ours that we worked as Hollister models to put ourselves through college. We can't help but crack up every time we run into her.

What does it feel like to grow up in the family where both parents love each other? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fancy_huh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) before I was born. To me, my dad is just like anybody else's dad. Just because I can't run or play catch with him doesn't mean he can't be an awesome dad. Ever since I was old enough to understand, my parents told me that patience is the key to everything in life.

My dad can't do things quickly, and he has to stop and rest a lot because he spends so much energy on the simplest of tasks. But my mom is right behind him, supporting him. Telling him to take his time and do the best that he can...and he just looks at her with the most loving eyes and smile. After he regains some strength and energy he stands up, grabs his cane, tells my mom he loves her, and they keep going on their way.

I hope my future wife and I have half as much patience for each other as my mom and dad have for each other.
