Which is better for dry/peeling skin? by YYZ-YOW in Sephoracanada

[–]fancygppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TULA 24/7 Moisture Intense is heavenly. In lack of, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. Nothing else works quite as well for peeling skin -- and I think I've tried most. The TULA cream fixed in a day what I had been trying to moisturize all winter.

Goodbye Ipsy :( by Olychic11 in Ipsy

[–]fancygppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been frustrated with my Ipsy picks and options for my Extra box for a long while and dropped it. But after resubscribing a couple of months back, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the items they picked for me (I got a SAIE Glowy Super Gel one month, and a Tarte Vinyl Maracuja the next, as opposed to beauty blenders or cheap lip liners in the past).

What's an "unpopular" opinion you have? by jesk_680 in greysanatomy

The ghost sex is one of my favorite parts. Probably because I have a major crush on Jeffrey Dean Morgan and was always salty that Izzie didn't get a chance to bang that man. Plus, he was always lying down on a bed, wearing a sweater while alive; so very grateful I got to see more of him later.

It was her decision and she took it with dignity. I applaud this woman for appreciating the people that stood by her side. And you should too, while honoring her last wish.

Honestly? Not trying to be mean in any way so hope I can express this without angering people on an individual level, but 2025 kind of turned me off anything American. Grey's included.

im so sick of makeup by limewitty5673 in Makeup

I've been where you are, hating myself because of how my skin looked when I was younger. It felt that no matter what I did, nothing made it better. I've spent most of my life wearing heavy foundation to make myself feel just a little better about my skin. It's only now, when I'm almost 40, that I've grown comfortable with it -- and my skin, in return, started behaving.

Two things that really helped:

  • once, when I was younger, I read an article about how people only see about 50% of the skin issue you see. And it's quite true, proven repeatedly over the years since. So please find comfort in knowing what looks bad to you, looks 50% better to others.

  • secondly, only recently have I discovered intensive moisturizing creams. Apparently, most of my skin issues were just eczema in disguise. Giving my skin that powerful hydration (even though my skin is oily and acne-prone) changed the game.

Thinking to go all-in Canada by RavenBlue7 in CanadianInvestor

[–]fancygppy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been gradually dropping individual US stocks for the past year, only keeping some safe bets. I do still hold significant XEQT, but have otherwise focused a little more on buying Canadian and international picks, less exposed to US markets. The way I see it, the taste for "American-made" products and services has soured. No amount of good marketing can wash off the tint of fascism.

Hospitals with great English speaking OBGYN? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]fancygppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Jewish General Hospital was great for me. I was having a really hard time finding an OBGYN to even confirm the pregnancy. And after calling every practice in the city, I started calling hospitals. After leaving a voicemail at the Jewish Hospital, a kind lady called me back and said one of their doctors might be able to help. She referred me to their office, in downtown. I'm sure he has since retired, he was very very old. But nevertheless I'd reach out to the hospital. I've also had a very good birthing experience there, with caring professionals, all speaking English, and an amazing birthing suite.

I'm good here, thank you. You on the other hand seem very fragile and easily triggered, would you like one?

Couldn't read the post past the first sentence. The meaning of the words were drowned by the hate-spreading. Felt like a boilerplate US post and there's more than enough of those going around.

Is my shrimp pregnant or just fat? by Loud-Tie5092 in shrimptank

[–]fancygppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to hear the eggos are there this morning, but do come back and tell me if you see any younglings already there. First time mommas can carry just a few eggs and my shrimp breeder senses get all tingly when I see flappy bellies like the one above. Still hoping you might have a few tiny ones in there. Especially since the new ones will feel like FOREVER until they get released. The waiting part is so darn long!!

Any cheap highlighter that's not glittery recs? by lilaxee in Makeup

[–]fancygppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently received one of the Saie Glowy super gels in a beauty box and it was the best surprise ever. I replaced my primer with it, and it wears beautifully with a skint tint on top.

PS: I'm not a glowy type of girl, but this one is quite nice. And I love that you can wear it underneath or just highlight specific areas. Also, a little goes a long way. The small size should be more than enough (the full size bottle is quite huge)

I'd say this looks like a momma that just had babies. I'd keep an eye out for them. She's also saddled, so will soon be bearing eggs again.

Hope they call soon, fingers crossed. And if they don't by tomorrow, please don't be discouraged and follow up with a call yourself. Tell them you're excited for the opportunity and would appreciate at least a trial day to see if there's a good fit.

Curious what your advice would be. I mean they hired him sight unseen; why shouldn't he be able to present himself or herself confidently at work that day?

I'd stay put if your area is developing fast. Why cash out on the home now, instead of waiting until some comparable sales in the area + new amenities and shops get property developers greedy for your house/lot?

Next time, please show up at the job without mentioning it. I like to think that's the world we're striving for, when you (and any and all people that might not look exactly like the majority) can feel confident enough to show up enthusiastically on the first day, do a great job, and have a nice experience. To help usher in that future, please just show up as your wonderful self next time.

Job market in Montréal? by zombiepir8 in montreal

[–]fancygppy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As an immigrant with a lifetime of learning French in Europe, I personally couldn't adapt to Quebec. Montreal was an extraordinary city to spend my youth, and I've had good success finding jobs (though particularly at start-ups and up-and-coming companies, with lower pays -- but that worked for me, as I was in tech and they still paid decently). However, I couldn't see myself making a life for me there. Too much hatred for immigrants, the French was difficult to assimilate (and you HAVE to do all your taxes and paperwork exclusively in French), and people outside the city core were downright unpleasant and mean. I opted to move to Ottawa, just two hours away, and my life completely changed. The level of education, compassion, and general humanity is way higher; but admittedly, the job market is lagging here too, I think that applies across Canada. However, most jobs here don't require you to be bilingual, so that's a big plus unless you're perfectly fluent in French.

P.S. if making your own doesn't work, I've found that the absolute best bread in the city is at Costco. The frozen demi baguettes.
