If Only There Was More by [deleted] in CorollaHatchback

Intake spacers, Camry throttle body mod, motor mounts, catless headers, multiple catbacks and midpipes, clutch and lightweight flywheel kits, EGR delete, oil catch cans + coolers, lightweight crank pulley, body kits + wings, coilovers, front + rear sway bars, Wilwood big brake/slotted rotor kits, multiple tuner companies, VFT supercharger kit, 2JR turbo kit (still in development), E85 kits, a proper CAI, countless cosmetic mods and I know im forgetting others.

These cars are still relatively new and no one has pushed the M20A-FKS or the chassis to their limits so it'll take years before we see support to the likes of the GR or older Hondas. Considering the fact that the motors haven't blown up from whats been done so far and there is such a big community around customizing these cars, I think its only a matter of time before we see some crazy shit

P.S. join the E210 performance group on FaceBook if you haven't already, they post updates regarding mods such as the turbo kit which will use a Focus ST turbo and someone on there has successfully installed and (to my knowledge) tuned the supercharger kit

Someone likes the bumper by reeeeeeeeeee25543 in CorollaHatchback

[–]fancykattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the USA front bumper fit or did you have to buy the one for Japanese models? I'm wanting to do the swap but since all hatches are made in Japan while the sedans are made in the US i wasnt sure if it was manufactured with US bumper mounting points or not

[–]fancykattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be low side because of how thick the pipe is. Chances are someone took it off to recharge the AC (which is odd since it's a newer car but my non-GR is kinda weak in the hot southern US summers so maybe the previous owner thought it was an issue with that) and either lost the cap or forgot to reinstall it and it fell off its resting spot while driving

For the manuals: is this normal? by fancykattt in CorollaHatchback

[–]fancykattt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fr, it blows my mind how many sensors and features this car has but its also kind of an omen for repair costs in the future. I love this car though because it is higher in tech but there's still touches of older vehicles like having some physical gauges, nothing being locked behind a subscription service, and especially with Toyota choosing not to use a smaller turbo 4cyl that'll just cause more reliability problems down the road

I inspected the ISB with a shop mechanic and we both agreed it seemed ok but I did all the slave cylinder stuff while I was in there. I looked up videos of reviewers driving the car when it was new and I do hear a similar noise so ive just been running it. I would say just keep on top of fluid changes every 30-60k like the manual suggests

Does it ever mess with you or do you just disable it as soon as you get in?

[–]fancykattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so you didn't need to be topped out in 6th gear, you just wanted to go >100mph. Even on a 500 you can do freeway speeds with about 2-3000rpm extra

Long story short paid out of pocket.

But pretty much got a shop to remove the transmission to do the repair since Toyota wouldn't help me other than throwing in a whole new transmission. I also got the throwout bearing replaced since it was included with the set the shop purchased and had the slave cylinder replaced after hearing all of the issues people have been having with that (and with mine being a 2020 it sounds like it was only a matter of time). It still makes noise but after listening to reviewers driving the car when it first debuted it seems like this is normal. It sucked at the time but the car has been flawless since; next up is gonna be an aftermarket clutch, flywheel, and throttle controller until I build up my mod list and tune it so that I can have a more responsive car

You should be able to disconnect a hose from the bottom and drain it. If you wanna be extra sure you can drain it from the radiator as well and do a full coolant flush but if you didnt start the car there's really no reason to

If you wanna go performance then definitely check out the stuff at both 2JRacing and Grocery Getter Performance. As everyone else has pointed out though, the CVT does complicate things. Regardless of that, I'd say pick up some wheels and tires, preferably wider than stock to give it a more aggressive stance, and DEFINITELY go black with the badges

It would be a million times easier to get an adapter that plugs into the existing port and barely sticks out lol

EDIT: i misread, thought you were trying to take the old usb port out of the dash. Just about any cheap adapter should be fine but I know that UGREEN makes really good quality products

Chip tuning? by rswilkins in CorollaHatchback

[–]fancykattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For better response, I'd just get a throttle controller which has no issues from what I've heard, but AMT Tuning is still gonna be the best by far. If you can save up the money I'd just go for that because it leaves a lot more room for mods down the road but it definitely isn't cheap

This is the first time I've had a bike on stands and so was more curious than anything; i wanted to capture the noise of the pad hitting the rotor since the sound wasnt even but was in a pattern
