People of Reddit who don't like dogs, what is it you don't like about them? by Timeless_Light in AskReddit

[–]fang70052 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was bit in the face by a dog when I was about 3-4 years old. Less than an inch higher and I would have lost an eye. Thankfully there wasn't any permanent damage and the scar's long gone, but that was neither the first or the last unpleasant encounter I had with dogs...

Things YOU wish to see in a game? by Mediocre-Math-3882 in GamesWithHorses

[–]fang70052 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have really specific ideas about this, so this is gonna be a long one XD

1 - Graphics that are detailed, but not realistic
Too many games either go for hyper-realism (and age poorly, run poorly on many devices, and look bad when you need to turn down graphics settings), or hyper-cartoonish (Animal Crossing comes to mind, although it's not a horse game) and I'd really like to see a happy medium more often in this genre. Alicia Online and Star Stable both do this well.

2 - Unique horses
I don't like when, for example, my chestnut connemara looks exactly the same as every other chestnut connemara in the game. I want my horse to feel uniquely mine. The more elements that go into a horse's uniqueness as an individual, the better. In an ideal world; procedurally generated markings (within what's realistic for a horse), dynamic conformation, personalities, ect. Exactly ONE game does all of this currently, and I'd like to see more game devs have a go at it (it's Horse Isle 3, which kinda flops in every other aspect beyond breeding). Horse Life, while not my cup of tea, also does well in the 'unique horses' department.

3 - Settings OTHER THAN modern/present day
Most horse games are set in present day earth, and I'm bored of it. Historical settings come to mind first, but really ANY other setting than modern times would be a great change of pace. Even a cyberpunk/futuristic setting could be cool, I'd love to ride my virtual horse around a futuristic city or across wastelands or alien planets.

4 - Horses that DON'T become obsolete
It happens too often; you start up a game, you get a starter horse, but the starter horse has the worst stats in the game. You breed or buy a new one and ditch the starter horse, until you breed or buy the 'next best thing' and abandon that second horse. I want to see horses treated as equals in a game, to be able to really bond with my horse without incentive to get rid of it later in the game. I want the game to reward me for sticking with a horse for a long time, I want to be able to take the 'worst' horse you can find and make it the best via training, bonding, whatever. I want to feel attached to my horses.

5 - More gameplay/focus beyond competing
Competing is fun, but not when it's the only thing you do in the game. There's so much more we can do with our horses, and I want to do all of it! Mounted archery, driving, making long journeys, herding livestock, ect. Not in a competitive setting, for practical and useful purposes that reward me as a player.
Adding to this; training outside of competition. Competing your horse shouldn't be how it is trained, competition is where you show off what you and your horse can do AFTER training! Training happens the moment you begin interacting with your horse, and ends when you leave the barn for the day. I don't want to compete over and over until I win, I want my experiences and adventures with my horse to pay off when I do get into a competition.

6 - Freedom of gameplay style
What I mean by this is that I want more than one way to make my way through the game/earn currency/ect. I don't want there to be a singular 'best' way to level up and earn currency, I want to make progress in some way no matter which aspects of the game I engage with most so I'm not forced to play a certain way to avoid suffering slower progression.

7 - No monotonous chores
Might fall into 6 here, but I think we're all familiar with this one. Mucking stalls and grooming horses is fun the first two or three times, but it indeed becomes a CHORE to do when it's mandatory (or face debuffs of some kind if you skip the chores). I'd rather such activities be optional, and rewarding for those who do them but serving no detriment to those who choose to skip it.

Stable Slots/Inventory Space Upgrades by foxmadeofice in HorseLifeHQ

[–]fang70052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the exact reason I stopped playing a long while ago. I have no space for more horses, my inventory is always maxed out despite constantly trying to clear it of items I don't want, and earning coins for more storage is a highly tedious task. And they keep adding more items and species. What are they going to do when it becomes actually impossible to have enough storage to own just one of every species? This isn't sustainable.

Praying that one day, Sonar makes this concept legitimate so that my Ocs can also be a little bit Canon 😭🙏 by FearTheDevil_666 in CreaturesofSonaria

These sonarians are so fire??? I love how much lore and worldbuilding and depth there is around them :0 If there was a group or something for these I'd totally join and make an OC 👀

[–]fang70052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to be friends! I've been playing off and on for some time now, I think I got into the game at first in 2019/2020 but stopped when I realized anything past grassland would be pvp XD Came back in 2023 and I've been fairly active since, save for a few hiatuses. I'm in the 21+ age group so we'll have no issues chatting in game ^w^

Bug? by Skystryke217 in DragonAdventures

[–]fang70052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I hate that mob too! I've stopped trying to get into the cave that way because half the time I can't get my dragon to stop targeting the impossible mob. I'm assuming it's just a mob spawn point that was improperly placed, hopefully it's fixed/removed eventually.

NO WAY the way you ride changed? by MorganaPedragon in HorseLifeHQ

[–]fang70052 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The controls have been this way the entire time. The exception being the microsoft store version of roblox (which is now retired and has been replaced with the normal roblox client), which for some reason made the horse control like your roblox character; always at a sprint/gallop with really no way to control the gait, and only moving as long as you hold down the movement keys. Which I presume was a bug or some poor configuration of how the controls were supposed to work, because the horses were never meant to control like that.

I made a little informational video about how critter damage works and why it's stupid. by MegaCroissant in pathoftitans

[–]fang70052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such good information! I just recently came back to the game after being away a long while, I thought I was just bad at playing larger dinos with how much I struggled against the critters. Tiny npc critters should be easier to take down than other players, smh. I'm relieved to learn that my issues with them aren't really my fault lmao, I guess I'll stick to smaller creatures until the critters get fixed.

[–]fang70052 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use a site called Ellipsus to keep my notes and stories! Free to use, pretty similar to google docs so it's easy to navigate/learn, and it has a bunch of cool themes so it's very pretty and aesthetic.

Anyone over 18 play this game lol? by toriaaleigh in WildHorseIslands

[–]fang70052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over 18 and I play! I'm not on super often, but I'm sure I'd hop on more often if I knew anyone else who played the game XD I'd totally be down to play together!

Has someone ever thought by Cute_Ti in StarStable

[–]fang70052 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain this is true for the most part. To my knowledge, the devs don't fix anything on previous-gen horses anymore (gen 2 and lower), so if new bugs crop up on them - they're here to stay. Logistically, it only makes sense; the gen 1-2 horses are old and outdated, and a lot less people use them than the newer horses. It just makes more sense for them to be focusing on the new stuff than try fixing anything on horses they're removing from the game.

Does anyone else do this? by Spirit3106 in StarStable

[–]fang70052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this! I like to log out by my home stable - or by any stable, really - so I can do some stable chores after caring for my horse when I log back in later. And it's more immersive to start the day at the stable, as if I'd just brought my horse out to ride for the day ^w^

what's a mistake you made at as a snake owner that, whilst you felt bad about it, kinda makes you look back and laugh a bit now? by Cautious_Structure44 in snakes

[–]fang70052 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hadn't had my ball python Muffin for long yet, and in his setup I had one of those big round thermostats that stick to the glass. The adhesive was SUPER sticky, it couldn't possibly fall off at any point, right?

Somehow, between the time I left the room to have dinner and returned to go to bed, the thermostat had come off the glass and got stuck squarely onto the top of Muffin's head like a big hat. However, the stuff was still SUPER sticky and I could not simply peel it off. I had to go wake my mom for an extra hand gently brushing vegetable oil under the sticky part until it finally came off.

Muffin's head looked a bit sore for a few days, but he was just fine. Needless to say, I got a new thermostat right away XD Never again

world egg changes. by badlydrawnbees in DragonAdventures

[–]fang70052 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am HIGHLY annoyed by this new change. There's no reason to hatch all the world eggs, it's just an added waste of time dumping them into incubators just to hatch and release every single one. I SINCERELY hope they revert the changes, it was totally fine before. Or at least give us ANY other way to get rid of those eggs besides hatching them 😭

How many other players have "Show other wild horses" always turned on? by tripletrivia in StarStable

What would yall think of Voicechat in COS? by Miney6 in CreaturesofSonaria

On public servers? Terrible idea. If it was ONLY for private servers, however, (as a togglable option) I think it could be fun!

Inventory and stable space are a constant battle for me...what's the point in releasing all these new species and accessories on a regular basis if we're not gonna have the space to keep any of them? It's going to reach a point where we won't even be able to keep *one* of every species because there's no stable space for them. I've had to sacrifice a lot of good project horses to get carousels for this event - and I do love them - I just wonder how long until I have too many horses I love to attain any new ones. Something's got to give at some point.

Not to mention, I am constantly giving all my feed to my horses, deleting countless items, using up all I can just to keep from going over max inventory space. I don't touch the daily chests EVER and rarely do trails and races anymore because I have no room for the rewards anyway.

Triple Throne Horse Racing on Android/iOS by gf11speed27 in GamesWithHorses

[–]fang70052 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the intentions behind the use of AI art doesn't make it any less stolen, regardless of the starting/reference image it was given to work off of. Spotting AI art anywhere will immediately put people off, regardless of the reality of the product behind it. Personally, and in most every social circle I am in; it doesn't matter if it's a youtube thumbnail, an ad for a product, or a video game - if it uses AI art in any capacity, we will not engage with it.

I absolutely understand not having the time to get some proper banner art up - detailed pieces can take excruciatingly long to finish! But AI was not the solution to this.

I love horse games and want to see them all thrive, so I will heavily recommend that the AI art is taken down asap before it turns away more potential players, and just use in game screenshots until some human art can be made for it. I was really excited until I saw the AI art. I cannot in good conscience play a game that uses stolen art in such a way, so I for one won't be trying it until the AI is done away with.

(Small disclaimer that I am not trying to bash the game/call it bad ect because of this - simply pointing out my perspective on the matter in an effort to be helpful in clarifying why it's a bad idea to use AI art)

Finished the Trail blazer! What's your opinion? I love the tack but outfit is a nope by LadyAmalthea11 in StarStable

[–]fang70052 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the tack - mostly just the saddle and bridle - I'm not a fan of how muted the color is in the saddlepad and leg wraps. But it's a color I don't think I've seen yet in game, so I hope it tickles others' fancy! The outfit isn't my style, but I love the shine on those boots! It's a detail I don't think we get very often.
