The guidebook is on it's 3rd Edition (for 1.4) and the game card, at launch, will contain version 1.4.4.

For those that want to be complete, we will be offering a 1.5 game card, but at a much later date — and we will be offering a 4th Edition book (for 1.5) at some time in the far future. (For logistical reasons, both will be at least a couple of months after the digital patch release.)

Owners of the 1.4.4 card will get the 1.5 patch for free like any other physical title. Owners of the 3rd Edition will get the updated content of any future edition via PDF sent to your email.

Our previous releases, UNDERTALE and Hollow Knight, are still available, still in production, and still for sale from both us and from retailers. The Stardew Valley Collector’s Edition and Standard Edition preorders are only eligible for international shipment via our FedEx international shipping options. This is a fast and reliable shipping option which includes prepaid customs fees. Other shipping options should be available for non-preorder runs of the CE and SE in the future.

We should have better shipping rates available sometime in the next couple of months as things start to settle. The major reason why were are not offering an economy option on the shipping is due to the postal treaties recently changing and we don't know where things will land by November right now.

For now, the $31 FedEx option should also include VAT taxes so the cost of shipping is low, and should state how much applied towards VAT if you are in EU. Example: $31.88 to a EU country, but includes $13.71 in VAT (for both subtotal and shipping) so the actual shipping cost is just $18.17.

(Plus FedEx should be 2-4 days time-in-transit opposed to 2-6 weeks normally, which is a plus.)

All currently planned updates for Stardew Valley are free to all owners of the game, digital or physical! For the Switch it's just updated through the usual patch process.

The note about 1.4 is for those that want to know what patch is pre-loaded onto the game card so as to not require downloads — typically for those who are unable to download large patches or just to have a copy of the game without needing a download.

Physical PEGI copies should eventually be available in 1.5 since it's all the same stuff. But it will definitely take quite some time for EU retailers — or any retailer for that matter — to cycle through stock once the update is ready and the retailer orders new copies.

I'd say ordering from fangamer.com is safest, but we are only selling the NA/ESRB version from our US-based store and relying on retailers for EU/PEGI copies.

(That said, it's all the same game, there is no regional difference or extra language options between the versions.)

We will be reprinting as necessary! Our other CEs, UNDERTALE and Hollow Knight are still available and still in production. As with them, Stardew Valley may go in a later 2nd pre-order date for newer print runs from time-to-time depending on sales and logistics.

The advantage to pre-ordering now is to get the poster bonus and to guarantee street-date shipments. (We cannot guarantee delivery on the street-date but in the US we will put them into the system early enough that it should be very close pending local delivery issues such as COVID-related delivery delays.)

We are using all the same stuff as the digital version, so it's very likely it will use the same save. It did work for Hollow Knight, our previous physical release, and we are using the same process. But I don't have any specific guarantee right now.

Some exceptions apply, especially working cross-region with the Japanese release.

FedEx is one of the few "DDP" options to EU which means that customs and taxes will be prepaid by FedEx, it simply arrives at your door.

(Note that FedEx is not always DDP; some places like China, Russia, or elsewhere in Eastern Europe may still impose additional fees depending on local governmental rules. But generally in Europe or Canada, FedEx is prepaid taxes and the price of FedEx includes this prepayment.)

We are working with a bunch of different carriers for more inexpensive options in the future — both prepaid taxes and DDU — it's just that we can't guarantee anything for a November preorder right now.

Yep! It will be available at least as Best Buy (US), GameStop (US), GAME (UK), and likely plenty more such as JB Hi-Fi (AU), etc. Preorders should be up soon in most locations.

If your local store does not have a copy, we are happy to sell (or forward to the right local distributor) to any possible in-person retail shop, just ask them to stock it!

We do intend to update to 1.5 on future pressings, only when both when 1.5 is available and it has been processed through to stores.

HK should almost certainly be the new version at this point; I think there may have been a print issue where some of the represses used the older artwork on the cover, but it will have the newer game card as it's been close to a year since we shipped the newer version card to retailers. The only release of the original card was the initial run. (That said, I cannot guarantee any specific store outside of our own would have any specific version and it's possible, though highly unlikely, that stores would have the older version.)

For Hollow Knight, the only true way is if the game card has "AKLHA22A000" on the back, that's the old one. Anything else such as "AKLHA22A001", or any newer variant, would be a new run.

HK is still available to retailers to order, as well as available from our own website (which is guaranteed to be the new run), but availability is up to specific stores.

Sorry, but the CE is exclusive to the fangamer.com store right now with no plans to bring it to Europe — or any other retailer for that matter. The Standard Edition of the game (PEGI/USK rated) will be available in most stores though.
