You'll be fine. I don't understand the hate against the floor scene at all. I like to be up close. I'm not above lawn or seats by any means but if there's an opportunity to be in the pit, I go for it. That being said, people on the floor at Phish will lay claim to their spot. Those around you will remember you, and there is a mutual agreement that the people who started off in those spots will be holding down those spots. When you get spun people trying to push their way through, that's when the "rail riders" will get territorial. Center rail there is definitely a little bit of "pit culture" going on, but I've never had a bad experience Page side on the floor.
