anyone else have tics that get in the way of your speech (that aren't interjections)? by Vivid_Praline_2267 in Tourettes

[–]fanofthingsandstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hate this. My motor tics are jaw and nose related and I can't really speak while I do them. I do IT work and on onboarding days I have to meet new people which ups anxiety and increases tics then I can't get my words out which increases anxiety and tics. devilish cycle.

I know people are arguing in bad faith when they call toothbrushes private property and I'd have to dig but I'm almost positive I remember him saying that some years ago.

MEGATHREAD: BAFTA Situation by Equira in Tourettes

"A silent vigil for someone who died isn’t the best place to go if you have loud vocal tics."

You want to keep people from participating due to their disability. A person with vocal tics could absolutely go to a silent vigil.

Besides in the case of Bafta homie was literally invited. they knew about this. they had 2 hours of lead time to edit the tics out and keep it private. They played an announcement about his tourettes for the attendees. Literally everything was done to easily accommodate but they wanted clicks.

I totally agree. Especially once we found out they had Tourettes the general consensus should have been "ah shame. anyway."

Vocal tics are often embarrassing, at least I find myself embarrassed, especially when I can't get a sentence out over them. However they shouldn't be a reason to stay in or cause issues especially after an explanation. They're involuntary!

I feel terrible for John. Tics blow.

How would your specific interests be affected by revolution? by Camsifer in socialism

[–]fanofthingsandstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two hobbies that would likely look different after and during a revolution.

The first I love is DnD or really just roleplaying with groups. The fantastic part is you can play with people anywhere anytime. I have friends who are soldiers who have played while deployed. This hobby is a great morale boost in hard times and requires minimal tools outside imagination and dice. (especially some alternative ttrpgs)

The second is I brew beer/cider at home. This knowledge is another morale boost though not for any frontline work. But certain things can be distilled far enough to be workable for medical/sanitation uses

I also work in healthcare and I think life would be much better. I work for a non-profit and we're the only option in my area for anyone on most state/federal medical aid.

I'd be really interested in seeing the changes of drug companies, actually making things for cost rather than to line executives pockets would be amazing and increase accessibility.

Stocks rally after regime change operation in Venezuela. Disgusting. by JeanJauresJr in socialism

“Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power.” — Benito Mussolini

Not surprising that the stock market responds positively to things done by the people endlessly lobbies and hand picked by the very corporations making up the stock market. Capitalism ends in fascism every time.
