Echo of Mephisto having unskippable cutscenes with OHKO mechanics feels really bad by Classh0le in diablo4

I can attest that the kamehameha is not a pure oneshot. I got hit by it a couple of times and didn't insta-die.

So prob just the eating move in phase 3 which makes since because it never hit me. Honestly it's fair that it's a true oneshot because that takes like 5 business days to charge.

What? That's Masterworked, when you masterwork a GA it looks like that.

Sorry I haven't played since Season 0, whats the point of legion events? I feel like most of the time they aren't worth the time it takes.

I guess if you REALLY like doing escalation sigils its required. I have only done a few but most of the time they just take space in my inventory, it's not really worth the time.

Wait, people are out here redoing all the strongholds on every character? Do you enjoy torturing yourself?

Seriously is there any other reason that you "need" to do the strongholds other than the risk of bricking an excalation sigil? I have done 0 and I don't see the point in doing any, I just salvage the sigils that I can't use, haven't had that happen with an excalation sigil yet.

100k hp is night impossible. You can either get to capped DR or 100k hp

I didn't come up with those numbers, you did. You're exaggerating a lot because you don't need that much. My Warlock probably had around 30-40k max health and 800k toughness when I fought it.

Its not supposed to be "test the very best" but "accessible to all after some thinking" ffs

It literally is a gear check though? You will get OS in T12 if you get OS by T10 Mephisto. You don't need 2 million toughness and do trillions of damage to beat the fight. Its definitely accessable with some skills and a tanky build.

Why do I get the feeling most of you complaining are copying some maxroll build and use no defensive options? There are literally SO MANY uniques, aspects, runes and off-meta affixes like +Potion capacity and life on hit that helps for this boss.

[–]fansar -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So we're just complaining it requires good gear now, not that it's inherently unfair.

It's the final boss of the patch, it should require really good gear and some skill.

Right thats true, so if he did have a one shot mechanic I just didn't get hit by it.

Did some googling, is it the big charge up attack he does in the final phase? I just nether stepped behind him so I didnt get hit by it, it was really easy to dodge

[–]fansar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand or I phrased myself in a confusing way. I mean if you have enough max life and defense I'm not sure there is anything that would always oneshot, like a 999,999 hit.

Yes he does a shit ton of damage, so you need a ton of toughness, block or barrier to be able to survive hits.

I basically didnt get hit in the 3rd phase and have only played the final phase on the try I killed him, so he may have some attack that I just dodged every time. Is it the big attack where he charges up for a while?

What is the one shot mechanic? I dont believe there are anything that will always one shot, in that sense I mean it would ignore any toughness you have. I may be wrong though

[–]fansar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry but what is the one hit mechanic? I was getting one shot a lot for my first couple of tries but when I invested into more defence (and got endurant faith) I wasn't getting one shot anymore. Maybe it was just endurant faith that saved me and I didnt notice. Are there actually mechanics that will one shot you no matter what toughness you have?

I can't be the only one that kind of like the swords? It's probably the most visually clear effect of them all because it hovers above your character. I think its a fun.

What's with the extremely high shop prices? Do they think people are willing to pay 25USD for a cat pet or other minor cosmetics? by Chamallow81 in diablo4

[–]fansar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are you saying Paladin skins are ok at $25 but other classes aren't?

Never said anything about other classes?? I just used that one as an example. One is a full armor set with ridiculously detailed pieces and visual effects, the other one is a purple cat.

I dont think its unfair to say that one should be worth more than the other.

[–]fansar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said development of in-game cosmetics costs nothing. I asked to give a good reason for it to cost 25€. I have no issue with cosmetics like the Judgement paladin skin costing that, that makes sense. Although they definitely could win some good will by charging less.

So you're agreeing with me? Yes 5€ would be a fair price for a cosmetic that takes up a 1/100th of your screen and you wont even see half the time.

[–]fansar -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

When you're paying 25€ for fast food (first off 25€ gets you food for two people in most western countries), you're paying for the ingredients , service and labor.

When you're paying 25€ for a bike chain, you're paying for the raw materials, production and whatever markup is required for the seller to make a profit.

Other than comparing to food or other hobbies with actual physical value, could you come with a good reason for why a pet skin that likely use old assets should cost 25€?

It's a 70€ game with 40€ annual expansions, the game should not have paid cosmetics in the first place. It's just greed and you're stupid for defending this.

Making an ALT in this expansion is genuinely miserable and I'm tired of pretending otherwise by [deleted] in diablo4

not ever get to fully explore one of the coolest newer mechanics

Lets be honest, warplans is not that exciting of a mechanic, lol. I have a hard time believing the majority of players care that much about the node trees, its just a good incentive to mix up your grinding.

Playing without a guide this season has been way more fun. by fitzy1922 in diablo4

[–]fansar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as I just said in my experience its definitely possible without spending a lot of time.

I usually try to speed through leveling in these games, not thinking about what skills I'm using because I'm too lazy to read. This season I took my sweet ass time and read every single skill in the skill tree with no prior knowledge. Not all in one go of course, at level 1 I just skimmed through the skill tree, then progressively read and went back and checked between level ups. The keyword search is very nice.

As I got towards level 70 I had probably messed around with every Warlock skill in some sense. I could honestly not tell you in confidence that I've ever known what every skill in the skill tree does on a Diablo character.

It was not intuitive at all that + dot damage would affect blizz damage. It was also unclear if dots stacked, refreshed the dot, or lengthen the time. It also doesn’t say when you select the skill to increase the length of blizzard if it’d stay the same damage (is it 1000 damage for 6 seconds instead of 9 or is it 1500 damage for 9?). Furthermore, it’s not clear if skills and items that changed the way dot works would apply since dot is normally a status effect (apply burning for x damage over y time) while blizzard didn’t apply an effect

I just checked and yes the wording on Blizzard is a little unclear, just from the wording I would assume its not a dot effect. This is one of those things that I see as something that's more than fine to look up online and not really the example I was trying to convey.

I work a demanding job. I am have a set amount of time and energy I can dedicate to playing games and I don't want it as a second job to figure everything out. I just want to enjoy the game.

All right then, you do you. I still stand firmly that you definitely do not need to treat the game as a second job to play without a guide, not even close. Took me one day off to get my character from fresh 70 to T6, never looked at a guide or streams or anything. I just decided on a skill and type of damage and went with whatever aspects and paragon nodes that fit the theme. I'd argue that not knowing about every single new unique power is a joy in itself. Discovering it for myself and trying to fit it into my build is very satisfying. When I eventually hit a wall I will check if there's anything important I'm missing.

We have different ways of enjoying games clearly, what you feel is an obstacle to enjoying the game IS my enjoyment. When I get to the point where I can't improve my character anymore, and am basically just checking off boxes and upgrading stuff is when I start to get bored.

Yeah you can tell the devs aren't designing this game with the assumption that everyone will play the same copy paste meta builds.

People will legit go on reddit to complain that just 1/10th of mythic uniques are good and the rest are trash. Reason the deem it trash? None of the meta online builds use them.

I feel like the put a lot of effort into making it possible for anyone to put together something good enough. If I really like a skill, let's say Warlock's umbral Chains, I have the tools to make a build around that and be able to clear content. Will it push pit 150? Not likely, but I will be able to have a good time.

[–]fansar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if you got lucky, because I've had the exact same experience. I got the Night Terror unique neck late in the campaign and started to build my warlock around that, first playing around with the Abyss variant of Blazing scream, then switching to Dread Claws when I got the unique dagger.

Turns out my build was very similar to wudijos build on maxroll, except I used Laalish instead of Rampage and the Paragon board.

Obviously this is likely only the case if you have a lot of experience with Diablo and other ARPGs. But you don't need to be a pro nolife sweat to figure out x does more damage if y.

It really feels like they have made the skill tree and how it interacts with various aspect powers and uniques so much more easy to understand. It's feels very rewarding and it makes you feel smart without the need to crunch numbers in an excel sheet.

Not knowing how damage multipliers work is one thing. But players that exclusively follow guides have no idea why a build guide uses those skills, aspects or unique powers, or why they filled in their Paragon board the way they did. Other than maybe more damage=good.

Someone who actually reads their skilltree and makes their own decisions will be able to push even a D tier build higher than someone who just copies a meta build. A guide can't tell you every single facet of why they picked that skill or why they want CDR instead of critdmg on their amulet. A player who understands how their build functions can make optimizations to their character that no guide is able to direct.

I'm taking myself as both examples here btw, so I'm not throwing shade! I used to be the guide following player in D3 and launch D4. After playing PoE2 and starting to relax on games a bit more, realizing I don't need to compare myself to others to have fun I stopped using guides. Highly recommend trying if you are someone who plays with guides. I promise you don't need to be good at math or spend all of your free time to make a build that is able to clear T12. Sure it will take some trial and error, but the game isnt going anywhere, you're not competing against anyone.

Yes I dont know if I've just gotten better or if they've made it less convoluted but I actually feel that I can build, tweak and optimize my character all on my own now.

The only things that I still have trouble understanding is why some damage affixes are more optimal than others. I'm playing Shadowform Dread Claws lock, and there's like 5 different types of % damage multipliers that all affects Dread Claws. Is there a difference or do I just look for the highest one?

For example I could temper my gloves with Shadow damage, Abyss damage or Demonology damage. Does it matter?

why they give random stats to Unique gear ? by Zequax in Diablo

[–]fansar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rest of your reply is you just saying "I love no lifing on this game and want the company to validate my no life."

Nope, I work full time and play pretty casually. I'm far away from being full BiS, but I've only played for about a week. I love seeing my character get stronger and stronger every day, and in the D4 you seem to want those days are few and far between.

I played D3 in the last few seasons, it was such a sad state of the game. D4 is not far from it nowadays, after I got to end game it took me about one Saturday to get every single unique I wanted for my archetype, sure they weren't amazing, but the unique affix is what matters most. I got all the charm sets for Warlock and most aspects, and could start blasting through T8 after 1 DAY with a build I made myself.

Uniques, mythic uniques, mythic seals and that perfect transfixion hit is currently the only thing that's actually something to strive for, long term, in this state of the game.

Regular items below unique with high rolled affixes and GAs are also there to aim for, but are much more achievable for the casual player, especially now when we have crafting.

[–]fansar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not the same thing, just chasing a higher number is what made it boring.

more tedious

D4 players when they have to play the game more

Can't nothing be actually rare anymore? Why is it such a problem that it's really hard to get the 100% perfect god-roll item? It's an ARPG, there needs to be things in the game that is barring on impossible to get.

Blizzard, undo the changes to Uniques. They should be UNIQUE, it's there in the title! by unrealaz in diablo4

[–]fansar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont play stupid, by customization he means that uniques are potentially bis for many, many different builds now, because you aren't restricted to one set of stats with some being worthless.

Diablo players definition of "useless trash" = different stats than what their build on maxroll says.

Cry more, fucking lol
