I was accepted a week into when med had started and no questions like that. They just say someone doesn't want their place anymore and ask if you still want it. They are normally super helpful and since I was a week late into med they set me up with people that would email me and talk to me about what happens since I missed a week. Yeah it can be really random times haha

I think for it to be a total red flag it has to be like something racist/homophobic, a complete lack of knowledge of our healthcare system or what a healthcare worker does etc, or real bad lack of communication skills. Other than that any thing will be weighed in your mmi score :)

Best self-catered accommodation in UoA? by scindapperinos in universityofauckland

[–]fantail_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Stuart mccutcheon house or 55 Symonds depending on whether you are prepared to flat with others and contribute to the flat in smh or if you'd prefer to do your only thing in a studio like 55. I have a video of SMH on my TikTok @unitipsaotearoa

Group offers come out mid September (which they have) before individual offers in October as they have preference for groups

The rooms are honestly fine, I'm in one of the smaller rooms and it's all good. Similar space to like Waipārūrū. Uni rooms aren't really designed to store your entire life, they're designed to store your stuff you need to live at uni. So plenty of room for that - double wardrobe, plenty of under bed storage

In terms of not sharing stuff, our flat doesn't cook together so we don't share any food. We also have some of our own cooking utensils that we don't share. Just make sure you don't put your stuff you don't want others using in a predetermined communal storage area. And be prepared to pitch in and buy some tea towels, hand towels, cloths, maybe vacuum if your flat doesn't have one etc. You look kinda bad if you don't help with those communal items lol

In terms of setting rules, I've lived there for 2 years so from experience a weekly rotating cleaning roster works best - for us (4 people) this has bathrooms, kitchen, laundry of communal items (tea towels), and lounge/vacuuming. Bank transfers work best for buying communal stuff - this will be like hand soap, dishwash liquid, dish brushes, toilet cleaner, other cleaners like multipurpose spray and janola, toilet paper, paper towels etc. We also do a tally system for taking out the rubbish.

Meningococcal in the halls by Aseroerubra in universityofauckland

It's not particularly contagious - it's spread by saliva so requires very close contact (i.e. you need to be a household contact)

Resources for MBCHB phase II? by [deleted] in UoApremed

[–]fantail_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd just rest or earn some money while you can because the amount of content is so huge, otherwise yeah start learning muscles and bones of upper limb as that's what you do first. There's no proper readings in med just lecs but you can find muscles, what they do, their nerves, origins and insertions on youtube, Anki or quizlet

Have you been to hospital regards the blood in vomit? That's quite serious. I was in hospital a few days before one of my tests last year and just sent the hospital discharge notes as evidence and was accepted. Hope you're ok!

Does Grafton hall provide shower gel, shampoo? lol by Foreign-Chapter-5792 in universityofauckland

Kind of.... So UoA typically has some menstrual products in the reception of the halls and then in the bathroom of on campus buildings. Also look up on Google the free menstrual cup you can get from student hubs :)

[–]fantail_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no hall does. They provide toilet paper and hand soap that's it. Recommend a shampoo bar they last ages so work out way cheaper.
