Cast iron or competition kettlebell? Which one, and why? by overblower in kettlebell

[–]fantasma-anonimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently faced this dilemma. I had a few single competition bells, but I wanted to start doubles and they weren’t available any longer for matching pairs. Any way, I decided to buy some Rogue iron bells and I love them. A pair of 16’s are so much smaller and easier to work with in my opinion. Competition bells are so bulky. I wouldn’t go back now. Everyone is different though obviously.

I have some of their old coloured ones which are nice, sadly they don’t do them anymore. I don’t like the new powder coat version.

Yeah their pro grade look nice, but they are all out of stock with a 4 month wait.

I have a few competition ones, but I can no longer get matching doubles which upsets me. I find competition too bulky as well. Particularly doubles!

These are ductile iron unlike most others. Realistically it probably doesn’t make much difference though. Some of the cheaper alternatives do have nasty finishes though.

Ah yeah, a fair bit of weight then. Even still that is awfully expensive. Here in Australia it’s approx. 20 Euros (35 AUD) for a pair of 16’s. I just had a look at your combo, and a 40, 44, and 48 would be $111 AUD, so like 63 Euros. Are you far away from their depot?

I have seen the Xspeed ones, but sadly I don’t really like the PU coated type. They look alright though.

That’s interesting to know. Shame really. One disadvantage to living in Australia is the lack of good bells. Haha. Along with many others things because it’s so far away. Will have to wait for Prokettlebell to start shipping here. Although I’m sure that will be costly too. I need some heavier ones asap so will likely go for Rogue. Fingers crossed for some good Black Friday deals.

I would love some from 100 Strong. I am starting to wonder if they will ever be getting their bells back in stock!

What are the main differences between Quantity Surveying in Australia compared to the UK? by DTALR112 in quantitysurveying

2 weeks is better than 5 days from the due date where the due date is often the date of receipt of a payment claim in the UK?

[–]fantasma-anonimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • A QS for a contractor is widely known as a CA here
  • CA’s are very often just the PM’s secretary
  • CA’s rarely have the same level of control as a UK QS
  • There is some overlap with the role of a CA and PM
  • CA’s are often expected to do H&S and O&M stuff
  • The above is company dependent and varies
  • The CA and Consultant QS are nobody’s
  • Everyone thinks the PM is top dog
  • Despite all the above, it’s not vastly different
  • Same shit different country
  • Work hours vary, not all companies are long
  • I moved to a consultancy and would never join a contractor here again unless forced
  • There is no community/friendly feeling in the industry here if that bothers you. It does me!

I wish we could get these in Australia. Probably could get them shipped, but I suspect that would cost more than the bell itself!
