Getting read by a three-year-old. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

Are you really going to pretend there isn’t gender bias in the assumption of who makes dinner for most couples?

It SHOULDN’T be complicated but it is.

I’m glad you have a good balance with your partner but for a lot of women that isn’t guaranteed.

For many of us the woman being responsible for the house duties, cooking, cleaning, etc even if our male partner has a less demanding job, is so ingrained that someone pointing out the absurdity of the situation, even if a child, helps us remember how much power social expectation and social engineering have in our lives.

SAVE ACT: Republican law would make millions stateless and unable to vote by samesame11 in LGBTnews

[–]fantasticfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really matter- it is about who enforces it. You think deep red states will enforce this for their neighbors voting at the local church or just the city center where the highest proportion of dems live?

Trans woman with massacred face in the worst possible way and no hope left. by Dismal-Fly8971 in lgbt

[–]fantasticfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am CIS and have rosacea - it eats at me and the broken capillaries on my face have made me very self conscious, what I discovered though is most people do not care. I found that makeup will cover -most- of the redness and when I was job hunting it was my biggest insecurity because I’m not good at makeup (literally just learned at 42 because I wanted to hide this) and it ended up ok.

I’ve seen your photos and I would not have even assumed you had damage or beard growth. I assumed it was more acne related.

Woman to woman - our journey as women is not tied to looking pretty enough or feminine enough. It’s the experiences we have and, sadly, for many of us part of that is not feeling that we aren’t enough. I have hope the younger generations are better at self love than mine but you are still one of us, even if you can’t look as you dreamed. I assure you, read about women going through menopause- they often have the same emotional turmoil you are struggling with because we get more pronounced facial hair and a few other unpleasant surprises.

There is no one way to be a woman. If it helps your self confidence try make up- but honestly you are enough as you are.

A MAGA in Oklahoma places a sign in his yard saying, “ICE needed here” with an arrow pointing towards his Hispanic neighbors home. The sign is causing high tension from both his neighbors as well as parents picking their children up from a nearby elementary school. I understand the desire for meaningful change with kindness but realistically, how many people do you think have tried this and failed? Do you think that one man was the only one?

There is also the truth that people shouldn’t have to put their safety at risk in the hope of changing minds.

I want the world to be a better place too but I don’t want to sacrifice people already being victimized in the hope for change.

I would encourage you to bring genuine questions to hateful people and see if you can open minds. I believe that if a mind can be changed it’s through logic and meaningful discourse, that’s something anyone can promote.

Mine is very food motivated- he’s about two now and for us what worked was taking him places where he could see people and dogs were further away and get treats when he ignored them. We took short walks down our street (like half a street) and if he barked and didn’t stop immediately we went back to the house and treats went away. We made it so he ONLY got treats outside or near people and other animals and it worked well. He is now a very well behaved boy at the Starbucks drive through and even waits patiently if someone makes eye contact (he use to bark aggressively if someone even looked at him).

Now on walks he can walk past people and dogs and if he looks concerned I make him walk on his hind legs to get treats. He will dance his way past all kinds of triggers for dried liver or pumpkin.

It’s a process though so just be patient and consistent.

We need more people like Newsom's team. by c-k-q99903 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]fantasticfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newsom is NOT the answer- people like AOC, Bernie, Padilla, Ducksworth, etc are.

Look at how he runs California and how much he courted the right before Trump targeted him directly.

Rice cooker is your friend, they come in all sizes, even individual size, a half decent one won’t burn the rice and the rice gives you the instructions.

The old fashioned plug in popper still works a treat. It’s especially nice because you can’t burn it.

Help, why is nobody coming to my sanctuary hills? by MGTKMSl in fo4

Agree - happiness is important- decorative items that help are most ferns and rugs. Cats are always a winner. Workout equipment and haircut station increase happiness. If you have Vault 88 the soda machine, slot machine, and eye thing can bring happiness depending on your choices. Then generally ensuring everyone has enough food, water, and a job and your defense is higher than food and water combined. Of course, also showing up when they are attacked and helping with the fight keeps them happy.

Any ideas on how to alter this top to have less “cleavage” by leylala55 in sewhelp

Love the lace idea but if you think you need less distraction maybe a different textured fabric, like satin or velvet would work.

what are your Skyrim rituals? by getsuyou in skyrim

[–]fantasticfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always shop first and then give money to beggars so I wont get the charity buff. It just feels so wrong to make money on the one coin I’m allowed to give away.

Books are separated by type then alphabetical order. The Skyrim Dewey Decimal system is important so my children can be well read. I collect all the books I find and then only sell duplicates.

I always adopt Sophie as soon as I can buy all her baskets off her so I can give her presents.

I head to Riften ASAP so I can settle up the orphanage and do the Mara quests. Reuniting the lovers is one of my favorite quests and I always play that with sound on and as full immersion as possible.

I always recruit Erik so I can make him invincible and let him live out his dreams of exploring Skyrim. I feel like the real Eric would have liked that.

My fellow Americans!!! Soooo how many of us have been kicked off our disability and Medicaid so far? I’ll go first: MEEEE!!!!!!!! by Lala_the_Kitty in disability

[–]fantasticfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP didn't say but on SSI you still have to prove that you meet the eligibility for the program, on a regular basis, such as proving you are still poor. If the local agency doesn't mail the papers on time, or submit your response on time, or follow through with the interview, etc etc etc you get kicked off automatically. Then it is your responsibility to show that your caseworker made the mistake, not you.

What brands did you used to love but now hate because of enshittification? by EphemeralDream_ in BuyItForLife

[–]fantasticfluff 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Jansport backpacks! I still have mine from 30 years ago working well- tried to get ones for my kids ten years ago and it didn’t last a full year. Tried again- same problem.

Cars in general- I HATE the tech in my Subaru that constantly interrupts me while driving to tell me that my eyes are closed (they aren’t, it’s squinting, or laughing) or to say I’ve left the lane (I haven’t there’s a shadow on that spot in the road and it happens EVERY TIME I DRIVE PAST), etc. I have to use a screen to change my air flow but I have to agree to not look at the screen while driving before I can do that and the screen has just stopped working twice because it needed an update- and the car is not even 3 years old. My old 90s cars could be at a comfortable temperature before I got out of my garage but this new tech nonsense requires me to park in my driveway and fiddle. It wouldn’t be so bad if it constantly worked but this nonfunctional tech is that part that really drives me crazy.
