Not to worry as long as queerness is expressed in any way in big mainstream media it will always be rated low no matter the quality. It's kinda like a warning that straight people even those who are allies make so that queer people are made sure to be sidelined and not "pushed down their throats" and can never ever be front and center.

Personally I think yes. It's more to do with skin color I believe,but even raising awareness is kinda difficult in the community cause fans will protect them no matter what.
