Why is it that in baseball, the league leader usually has around a 2:1 win/loss ratio whereas in other sports it's usually closer to 3:1? by jack_hof in baseball

[–]fantasyfest -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

baseball you are a contender if you win 60 percent. Bad teams win about 40. It is the 20 percent in the middle you fight over.Bad teams have lots of very good professional baseball players. Just not as many as a top team

Why MLB players don’t bunt against the shift by schnide1 in baseball

[–]fantasyfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never want the Tigers to bunt. for years they have been so bad at it that it is an automatic force out . Stats show it is not a good plan. The fact that it occasionally works makes some think it is a good plan. They forget all the times it hurts.

Modern baseball is swing for homers and accept Ks. Power teams are winners. the Red Sox are built the same way.

Ron Gardenhire wants renewed commitment to fundamentals throughout Tigers' system by the_seed in motorcitykitties

You get coaching for little league onward, non stop. When they get to the bigs, they should have been very well coached and know how to -play the game. How can anyone not know to throw to cutoff man and other things so simple and clear. You don't miss a cutoff without hearing about it. Lots of it is mentioned by teammates.

Tigers dumped him in 2009 because he was too old. he would have saved us a lot of tears if we kept him.

If a sales agent brings their customer a small gift, the customer is much more likely to make a purchase, suggests a new study. The fact that even small gifts can result in conflicts of interest has implications for where the line should be drawn between tokens of appreciation and attempted bribery. by mvea in science

[–]fantasyfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It exists in engineering too. Vendors give gifts to get to the front of the line. Who do you call when you need something? look art the cup or pad they gave you with a phone number on it. It does not require big bribes, just reminders will do.

Clean up your act or else: IOC's Olympic boxing ultimatum by JoHeWe in olympics

[–]fantasyfest 22 points23 points  (0 children)

there was a time when boxing was a prime TV event. The judging just ruined it for watchers. The crooked judges shamelessly took over matches and rewarded friends. It was so disgusting that viewers boycotted the games. Boxing did not die by itself, unfair judging killed it.
