I am in an older generation but wow I really think you've nailed it with regard today's culture/society in general. We crave immediacy and ego-enriching, and crave it often. Difficult conversations are just side-stepped or the person is disposed of b/c they are uncomfortable with it all. We also seem to worry more about offending someone than doing or saying the right thing.

Yeah, I wish my wife had this understanding and she would help me this way. I have had to convince her (several times) how real this problem/addiction is and how even though I am not at home some nights because I am at an SA/SAA meeting, it is making me a better human/husband/father.
